BULLS loanee Tuoyo Egodo spoke of his delight at the start of his Bradford Bulls career and is confident it can only benefit his development.

Signed from Castleford Tigers for the remainder of the season, Egodo has quickly become a fans’ favourite, earning the fan-voted man of the match in his first appearance.

Joining the club at a similar time to outside-backs Jy Hitchcox and Jonny Pownall, Egodo is aware of the strong level of competition in the squad, yet believes it will raise his game.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at the club so far, from the players to the staff everyone has made me feel welcome around the club, it’s been a real positive move,” said Egodo.

“There are some familiar faces from when I’ve played at London Broncos and Castleford, the likes of Callum Bustin and Joe Keyes, it makes the transition a lot easier and helps me play to my potential.

“Getting a string of appearances was vital in choosing to come here, minutes under your belt is what helps you grow ultimately. I haven’t been here long but it’s so far so good.

“There’s a healthy amount of competition in my area especially, but that’s what you need. It’s very easy to become complacent if you’re only competing against yourself.

“We’ve got a very strong squad all round, you can see that in training. Everyone is working to prove to John (Kear) and the coaching staff that they should be in the starting team.

“From playing against the Bulls I knew the fans were a vocal set, having them with you rather than against you is amazing. They’re a big push for us on the pitch, we just have to pay them back on it.”

As the end-of-season run-in continues, Egodo commented on the air of excitement around the club, having sensed it upon his first visit to Odsal.

Egodo also complimented the work of Steve Crossley and Dane Chisholm in providing the experience on the field to a relatively young squad.

“Bradford is still a massive club. In recent times things have gone against them but now they’re fighting to get back and it’s great to be part of that journey,” said Egodo.

“From the moment I came into the club you can understand the excitement and buzz in the players, being top of the league, aiming for that promotion push, it’s easy to buy into.

“Obviously there’s a sense of pressure with the run-in and the younger players, myself included, can get a bit erratic at times. Having the more experienced heads on the pitch just helps us focus.

“Steve and Dane are perfect examples, they are leaders on the pitch and keep things calm and collected.

“You need that blend of youth and experience and I think this squad has got that.”
