JAKE Beesley is hoping that Bradford (Park Avenue) maintain their aura this season.

The 21-year-old striker, who is the son of former Sheffield United and Leeds United defender Paul, has signed for the season at Horsfall Stadium from Salford City.

Speaking to the club's website, he said of his new club's reputation from last campaign: "The main thing was that Bradford were a hard team to play against.

"Not many teams liked to come up against them and hopefully we can go further than we did last season."

Avenue were beaten in the play-off semi-finals by Brackley Town, who, ironically, Mark Bower's team host in their opening fixture on Saturday.

Bower and his staff are hoping that the 6ft 1in forward can compensate for the loss of striker Adam Boyes, who has signed for Spennymoor.

Former Chesterfield, Shaw Lane, Salford and Boston United forward Beesley said of his early Avenue experience: "It seems like a good set-up and I am happy to be on board.

"The lads all seem good and they have all welcomed me and hopefully I will settle in quickly.

"It is a tough league and every game is a hard one and hopefully we can do well and finish as high as possible."
