LONDON Skolars may be third-from-bottom of the Betfred League One table, but a succession of narrow home defeats suggest that they are not too far away from claiming a notable scalp.

They welcome Bradford Bulls to the capital tomorrow, and although the result might appear to look a foregone conclusion, the Odsal side will be conscious of events in the last league match at Skolars' New River Stadium.

York City Knights, who beat John Kear's side last week, were given an almighty fright and only just survived a rousing comeback from the hosts, eventually prevailing 22-20.

Skolars have lost their last four home games by less than 10 points, with Coventry Bears, North Wales Crusaders and Hunslet all just escaping the capital with victory.

Lamont Bryan has been a frequent try-scorer for the London side in 2018 and the Jamaican international has plenty of experience in the top two tiers, having previously played for London Broncos and Featherstone Rovers.

Another former Broncos Super League star is scrum-half Mike Bishay. He has proved adept with the boot alongside Neil Thorman this season for Skolars and has weighed in with tries in their last two home games.

A feature of the capital side's squad is that many of their players have re-signed for the club after a period elsewhere. One of those is powerful centre Lameck Juma, who left for a spell in rugby union but returned in 2016.

He has had an eventful fortnight of action. He was sin-binned for throwing a punch in the home clash with York, but scored two fine tries in a battling 28-18 defeat at Whitehaven last Sunday.

Skolars have only won four of their 18 league fixtures this season but are well clear of the bottom two, which consists of Hemel Stags and West Wales Raiders.

Coventry overtook them in the standings last week, with the West Midlands side currently on an impressive four-match unbeaten run.

Skolars will be confident of reclaiming that spot back before the end of the season, though, and North Wales, on 13 points, will also be in their sights.
