BULLS captain Lee Smith praised his side's performance following their 52-14 win over Doncaster at Odsal.

Ethan Ryan caught the eye yet again with four spectacular tries as the Bulls fought through a tough first-half before hitting their stride in the second.

Despite an injury scare for Smith himself, he remained positive at his side’s result commending the performance of the whole team.

“Personally there was a slight disappointment for myself with the injury that will set me back a few weeks, but from a team perspective we couldn’t have asked for much more,” said Smith

“When we travelled to Doncaster they produced a great fight first half so we knew we needed to start well this time around otherwise, we could have been in trouble.

“There were many positives to come out of the game, with the dry pitch it allowed us to really let go and play our attacking style and we saw the results of that this weekend.

“We’ve got a few first teamers out at the moment so players like Liam Johnson are getting more of a chance, he made the most of it this weekend filling in that left centre, and it’s good to see that depth.

“I could talk Ethan (Ryan) up all the time, his finishing is world class: It wouldn’t look out of place in the NRL or the international game, hopefully, I won’t miss too many games and can get back involved.

“A lot of attention has come on our left edge with Ethan, but I’d like to give a big wrap to the right edge some of their numbers in defence this weekend was immense.

“We pride ourselves on working for each other and that’s something I think the game highlighted, across the board everyone put in a great shift in testing conditions.”

Bradford’s next game sees the Bulls hit the road, travelling to Coventry Bears at the Butts Park Arena.

In the reverse fixture, the Bulls posted a comprehensive 52-6 win over the Bears, yet Smith insists his side will be taking nothing for granted.

With the game being billed as ‘the battle of the beasts’ Smith spoke about the challenge of facing a side ready to raise their game.

“We won’t be expecting anything to be the same as last time, as always you have to respect the side when travelling to their ground,” said Smith

“It’s looking like there will be a large crowd at the game, I have no doubts that our fans will be there in numbers and we can repay them with the performance.

“We have an idea of how they play, they will look to start quickly and disrupt our game we just have to wear them down and not get drawn into a scrappy game.”
