DANE Chisholm reckons Bulls half-back partner Joe Keyes helps bring out the best in him.

Injuries have limited the number of times that Odsal’s dynamic duo have been able to play in tandem.

But Chisholm sees Ireland international Keyes as an instrumental part in their push to the top of League One and believes their link-up play will continue to improve.

He said: “It’s so much better having him out there with me because I can focus more on running around. He’s such a good controller of the team and can steer the ship so well.

“He can tell the boys where to get to, do all the good kicks and set us up with our field position.

“I don’t have to think about doing that so much. I can just worry about running around, more as a second full back.

“I was talking to Keyesy other day, we’ve been close for ages but haven’t played much footy together.

“From the time that I’ve been at this club, even back in 2015, we probably only played three or four games.

I came back and got injured and a lot of the time we haven’t even been together.

“We are such good mates, it feels like we have played together much more than we really have.

“But playing more and more footy together, we’re just going to get better. We’re still growing as a partnership.”

Chisholm contributed 20 points as the Bulls overcame Doncaster 56-14 to make it nine straight wins at the top of the division. But he acknowledges the unsung role of Keyes beside him.

Chisholm added: “We both know what our jobs are. We know when to link up together and when to sit on our short side and let the other take control of the big side.

“There’s never any arguing between me and him. We’re always positive together and know where we are on the field and what we have to do.”
