A VITAL unbroken stand of 61 between Rob Greenwood and Kristian Hargreaves saw Haworth Road over the line by four wickets in their tense Wynn Cup quarter-final at Oakworth.

The hosts batted first and were struggling badly on 52-6 before Jordan Powell crashed a quickfire 50, which included six sixes, to get them to 111-7.

Jack Ellis (33) then led some tail wagging, which saw the score reach 169-9 after 40 overs. For the visitors, Muhammad Ayaz finished with 4-34 and Tom Kaznowski 3-41.

Haworth Road were rocking at 110-6 before Greenwood (37no) and Hargreaves (17no) steered them to victory. Earlier in the innings, Naeem Lodhi had made 30. In the bowling department, Ellis claimed 3-35 and Joe Copperwaite 3-45.

Foulridge are also through after travelling to Hepworth & Idle and beating them by five wickets. The home side batted first and made 115 with Jamie Topham (33) top scoring.

Harvey Matthews took 2-4 in his three overs for Hepworth & Idle but they were always going to struggle to defend such a low total, and the visitors cantered to victory inside 22 overs.

The other two fixtures were won by default. Embsay go through to the semis after Ingrow conceded and similarly Barrowford after Long Lee were unable to raise a team.

The semi-finals are: Barrowford v Haworth Road and Embsay v Foulridge. The matches will be played on Sunday July 15.
