BRADFORD Bulls Women will kick-off this weekend’s Summer Bash in Blackpool as they take on Featherstone Rovers.

The game will act as the curtain raiser with the women competing in the opening match of the weekend before the men’s Championship sides take to the field.

After a rough start to the season the Bulls returned to form in style last time out as they recorded a thumping 72-10 win over York City Knights.

Head coach Mark Prescott is confident his side will carry that momentum into the Summer Bash. He said: “Getting that first win under our belts to get us off the mark was really important.

“Hopefully that will kick-start our season because it has certainly given us a confidence boost heading into this game against Featherstone.”

Featherstone, like Bulls have won just once this season also against York, but Prescott knows they are an outfit not to be taken lightly.

“Featherstone were the second-best team in the competition last year, but that has all turned on it’s head now as we know” he said.

“They like us, also lost players and had to re-build, while a few players are returning and so making the side stronger.

“They have given it a really good go in all their matches so far this season, so I am expecting a tough, hard-fought game”.

This will be the first time the ladies have been in-front of a capacity crowd since their opening Super League fixture against Leeds at Odsal, and Prescott knows the side have been desperate to perform within that atmosphere again.

“The girls are ready to go out and express themselves and enjoy the occasion,” he said.

“There were some nerves in that first game against Leeds, but I think that was down to the pressure we put on ourselves following last season and the re-building of the team”.
