GARY Megson is the latest name to enter the mix for the vacant City head coach role.

The T&A understands that the 59-year-old is interested in succeeding Simon Grayson.

He returned to coaching last year after a five-year absence when he became assistant to Tony Pulis at West Brom.

He took interim charge when Pulis left the Baggies – with whom Megson earned two promotions to the Premier League as boss between 2000-04 – before leaving when Alan Pardew took over.

Megson was number two to Chris Kamara at Valley Parade for a brief spell in 1995 before leaving to take over at Norwich City.

He has also been in charge at Blackpool, Stockport, Stoke, Nottingham Forest, Leicester, Bolton and Sheffield Wednesday.

A statement last week from the Bantams said they were looking for a head coach to take over, with names such as former City player Darren Moore, Steve Cotterill and Mick McCarthy among those linked with the vacant post.

Former Hearts boss Ian Cathro – who took over at Tynecastle in December 2016 aged just 30, only to be sacked after seven months – is a new name to feature high up in bookmaker odds.
