NATHANIEL Knight-Percival has one complaint about City’s late revival – the season is ending too soon.

The centre half has scored in successive home wins as the Bantams maintain a slim hope of gazumping their rivals for a play-off spot.

It remains a faint chance – and they are still relying on those better placed to trip up – but at least interest has been prolonged in a challenging campaign.

On the back of eight points from the last four games, City still have something to play for going into the final week.

Knight-Percival said: “We feel we’re getting things together and going somewhere now.

“It would be better if we had another month, but such is football.

“We’ve started picking up points and playing how the gaffer wants. We’ve been a bit more solid.

“Blackpool was disappointing for everyone. You don’t want to be questioned like that as a professional.

“But we’ve turned it round in the last few games. We’ve shown we’ve got fighting spirit and we do care.”

City’s sudden demise since the turn of the year came as a nasty shock to the defender, who had seen them as a fixture in the top six during his first 18 months at the club.

He admitted getting out of that slump has been difficult.

“It’s very different compared to last season,” he added. “But that happens to loads of teams in football, it’s not just us.

“All players will say that it’s probably the easiest game in the world when you’re winning. You’ll enjoy your football.

“But sometimes it can be tough and a bit miserable. But that’s part of being a professional footballer and it’s about getting through that adversity.

“The pleasing thing is it shows we have the character to be able to do it.

“We’ve been trying to focus on turning it round and luckily it has. You don’t want a run like that to continue for however long.

“We’re going into all these games trying to win them all. That’s all we can do.

“You can’t change anything in the past. Sometimes you will question things but there’s nothing you can do about it.”

City look to extend their improving home record against Southend tomorrow and then return to Valley Parade again on Tuesday to face struggling Walsall.

Knight-Percival is confident they can continue to finish strongly.

“It adds to a bit of the frustration but it’s good we have got our form back,” he said.

“We didn’t want to ride out the rest of the season in that position. It would have felt worse.

“It’s nice to come back as we have done and hopefully in these last few games we can keep replicating our previous performances.”

Knight-Percival and central-defensive partner Matt Kilgallon signed contract extensions earlier in the season that will keep them at Valley Parade for another year.

But they are waiting to find out if it will still be Simon Grayson leading them as the current boss discusses his future with chairman Edin Rahic. Knight-Percival insists the players have been given no clues.

“It would be great if he did stay but that’s completely up to him.

“Obviously there’s a little bit of uncertainty but as professionals we just have to focus on coming back and giving it 100 per cent from the first day of the new pre-season. That’s regardless of who the manager is.

“I think it would be the same whoever is in charge of the team. Everyone will come back raring to go and wanting to put on a shirt in the first game of the season.”
