THE PRIZE of a glamour trip to Warrington will raise the Challenge Cup stakes for the Bulls, says John Kear.

The delayed fourth-round clash at Hunslet has been rearranged for Easter Monday after being frozen off.

On offer will be a trip to the Halliwell Jones Stadium on the weekend of April 21-22 to pit their wits against Super League opponents.

It is a prospect that excites Kear and his players – but he knows Hunslet will be just as fired up by the incentive waiting in the next round.

“It’s certainly upped the ante,” said the Bulls coach. “We know for definite the rewards, it’s not the possibility of a Super League team but the reality for whichever team wins.

“It’s made it even more interesting and Easter Monday’s going to be very special.

“It’s a free hit for whoever goes through with a great financial reward.

“But Gary Thornton and the Hunslet chairman will be aware of that, just as we are.

“It’s an excellent draw but there’s a big hurdle to overcome first of all.”

The cup tie is one of four games in a hectic fortnight facing the Bulls, starting with Hunslet’s league visit to Odsal on Sunday.

Kear will look to rotate his squad through the busy schedule – and will be keeping a close eye for any stand-out performances when the reserves take on Wigan at Dudley Hill tonight.

He added: “They are going to be very light training weeks and we’ve also got the reserve game.

“I’m hoping some people put their hands up and say ‘you’ve got to pick me’ for one of these games.

“There’s got to be an element of rotation. It’s a matter of doing it in a sensible and planned way.

“We always manage the minutes played and that’s going to be even more important over the next four games.”
