BULLS captain Lee Smith insists further disruption to their schedule will not affect the momentum of the side going forward.

Bradford’s challenge cup clash against Hunslet became the second game this season to succumb to the conditions, and, having been moved to Easter Monday, it makes for a busy Bank Holiday period.

Yet, Smith believes his side has the depth and quality to deal with such a challenging calendar, especially after the recent signing of Jake Butler-Fleming.

“The conditions have caused a bit of disruption again, Sunday’s game and the Skolars match being postponed have caused a backlog for us, but it’s out of our hands,” said Smith

“We’ve still got a few days out training this week as normal, so preparations for this week are well underway, so we should not be hampered too much.”

“Coming off the back of the Keighley game the squad is in high spirits. It’s never ideal to play one week then miss a week, it becomes harder to gain the consistency we need.”

“On the flip side of that we’ve got four games in two weeks coming up, so we can certainly get consistency there, it’ll be testing but we’ve got the squad to do it.”

“I imagine John (Kear) will rotate the squad a fair bit. There’s competition for places and I’m sure anyone looking to step into a spot will be ready to do a job.”

“With the addition of Jake Butler-Fleming this week it’s more competition on my part which is good, competition helps keep your individual levels up.”

“Myself and Ashely Gibson are both 31, we’d probably struggle to play four games in two weeks, so it allows us to rotate and keep fit, which is great for the team.”

Bradford go straight back into League 1 action this weekend and Smith is from the area and has a lot of respect for Hunslet and their coach.

“When I was younger I was coached by Gary Thornton as I was coming through the ranks, so there’s a lot of respect for him there alongside the team.” said Smith

“We’re both unbeaten in the league and that’s something both sides will want to keep up; they are going to test us and we will have to be on our game.”

“There’s a good morale in the squad at the moment, we want to keep our momentum going and we know we’ve got the talent to do that.”

“Due to the cup game being postponed we’ve been preparing for the match for an extra week than normal, we know what they will bring to the table, so it’s down to us to execute that.”
