ANYONE fancying a flutter on City's trip to Bristol Rovers tomorrow is advised to steer clear of the draw.

Three of the last four Rovers games have finished in a stalemate, including last week's goalless encounter at Blackpool.

Yet it is nearly a year since the spoils were last shared at the Memorial Stadium.

Nicky Law's goal earned City a point there in February, the first of three successive home draws for Darrell Clarke's side.

But since that month, Rovers have played 18 games on their own turf without sharing the points.

Last time out they did City a favour by rallying with two late goals in a come-from-behind win over Portsmouth.

Otherwise they have drawn three times on the road since Christmas as Clarke has adopted a more pragmatic approach to keep them clear of the relegation scrap.

Rovers are still too close to the bottom four for comfort but the promising signs are there, with only three goals conceded from their last five games.

Clarke may look to inject some added pace tomorrow by throwing in new signing Bernard Mensah.

The former Aldershot frontman, who can play through the middle or on the wing, was left on the bench against Blackpool.

Striker Rory Gaffney is looking to settle a score with City after Charlie Wyke's hat-trick settled their first meeting at Valley Parade.

"We got turned over away from home in this fixture and the game was on TV, so we'll be hoping to make amends for it," he said.

"It's more than just revenge though, it's also a chance to get more points on the board.

"We're only four off the bottom clubs with a game in hand, so if we can get a few wins under our belts, we can hopefully push away from them."

Fans will be asked to join in a minute's applause to remember nine-year-old Rovers fan Bailey Cooper, who died from cancer on Christmas Eve. Six members of his family will be special guests at the match.
