IT HAS been a mixed week for Guiseley Vixens in the FA Women's Premier League.

After picking up their first Northern Division point of the season in a 3-3 draw at home to Stoke City, they then travelled to Middlesbrough on Wednesday night and lost.

The Stoke clash was a real battle, with four yellow cards and a red being shown, yet Guiseley showed great spirit.

They hit back from being a goal down early on to lead 2-1 thanks to two Chantelle O'Hara goals, before Alarna Fuller grabbed a last-equaliser after her side had fallen behind again.

Unfortunately, there was no joy at Middlesbrough as the Vixens failed to overturn a 2-0 interval deficit and lost 3-1.

They now host bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers tomorrow, with the visitors also struggling and yet to win their first point.

In Division One North, Brighouse Town lost their unbeaten record to new leaders Hull City but bounced back immediately to earn an impressive 3-0 win at Barnsley.

It has been a slow start for most West Yorkshire sides in the Reserve Division, with Bradford City, Guiseley, Brighouse Development and Leeds United all without a point. Huddersfield Town, however, are top with two wins out of two.

Last week's games saw Huddersfield hammer Brighouse 10-0 but City lost 3-1 at Middlesbrough and Leeds went down 2-1 at Bolton.

Tomorrow's fixtures feature City v Bolton, Guiseley v Hull, Huddersfield v Middlesbrough and Sheffield United v Brighouse.

Farsley Celtic open their North East Regional League campaign at Castleford White Rose and, on the back of a 5-3 win at Worksop in the FA Cup, they will be full of confidence. Their next cup opponents will be Hartlepool United at home.

Bradford Park Avenue opened their West Riding County League programme with a 3-3 draw against Brighouse Athletic but find themselves with a blank day tomorrow.

The Bradford derby in Division Three saw Thackley held to a 1-1 draw by Tyersal.

Thackley were repeatedly thwarted by the vastly experienced Tyersal side but thought they had secured the win with an own goal three minutes from time.

Undaunted, Tyersal mounted a rare attack as former Bradford City duo Jayne Barber and Claire Popplewell combined to set up Abi Tate for the equaliser.

Tyersal are at home to New Farnley tomorrow, while Thackley go to Kirkstall.
