FORMER Bantam Guy Branston has been placed in temporary charge at Chesterfield, with fellow former City player Matt Duke assisting him.
The pair will oversee the Spireites following the departure of manager Gary Caldwell from the struggling League Two club.
Director and company secretary Ashley Carson said: "I offered the role on a temporary basis to Graham Barrow, but he flatly refused. He came in with Gary and he didn't want to take it.
"Guy is going to take control in the short-term and Matt Duke will help him out.
"Guy knows the players and I think he is the right man to help out in the short-term, but he's not going to be the next manager. He's very good in the role that he's got."
Branston has been working as the club's director of recruitment and development.
