LEIGH Beattie could not hide his delight after the Bulls overcame Toulouse to further boost their survival hopes.

Beattie's men beat the French outfit 29-22 to claim their second successive victory and move on to minus eight points.

Home debutant Scott Moore marked the second game of his four-match trial with a well-taken try in a man-of-the-match display.

Home-grown youngsters Ethan Ryan, Ross Oakes and James Bentley also impressed as a vibrant first-half display put Bradford 22-6 up at the break.

After a first home win of the season, head coach Beattie said: "It was important, especially after last week at Swinton when we got the ball rolling.

"In the first half, we were very good and defended well on our line. I thought Ross Oakes and James Bentley were good, while Ethan Ryan was outstanding both defensively and with the ball.

"In the second half, we got the two points – but we made too many errors and need to be smarter than that.

"It's a happy dressing room but as coaches we know that the second half wasn't good enough. We need to be a lot better than that if we are to keep knocking these wins off."

Beattie denied suggestions his side had Jekyll and Hyde tendencies after switching off during the second half.

Toulouse hit back with three tries to make it 28-22 before Oscar Thomas' late drop-goal finally eased home nerves.

Interim coach Beattie said: "We just made too many errors, didn't we. We made them last week and tried to fix them up – but we will keep working and move on."

Beattie did not use new signing Lee Smith, who was named among the replacements, but was delighted with the performance of Moore and on-loan Leeds loanee Mikolaj Oledjki.

"There was no way I could put Lee on with the way the game was going. He was a bit upset but it was too close to call," said Beattie, who also handed a debut to Salford loanee Daniel Murray.

"Mikolaj is a great player and gives us that go-forward that we need. I thought Murray was good, as well as Jon Magrin and Colton Roche.

"Scott Moore is a quality player and has shown that in these past two games. He's certainly improved us and bossed us around the field in an 80-minute performance."

Bradford now face a tough trip to London Broncos this coming weekend but Beattie reported no injury concerns.

"It's another tough challenge but we will work hard this week and hopefully deliver again down there," he said.
