BRADFORD City are hoping to end their 2016 by securing a spot in the quarter-finals of the West Riding County FA Women's Cup.

Their final fixture of the year is a visit to lower-league Yorkshire Amateur in the third round tomorrow.

Their hosts are flying at the top of the seventh division, but considering they only narrowly beat City's third team 3-2 in September, the Bantams' firsts are strong favourites.

It's been a challenging couple of weeks for City, so they will be desperate for a victory.

After being held to a goalless draw by bottom side Newcastle last week, seven days after being knocked out of the FA Women's Cup by a last-minute winner, they could not be hungrier this weekend in their defence of the trophy.

"After a couple of disappointing results, we're looking for hard work from the team tomorrow to get through this frustrating time and go into the Christmas break on a high," said player-manager Charlotte Stuart, who will not feature tomorrow.

"Faye (Boshell, assistant player-manager) and I will be on the sideline again, like we were in the last stage of this competition."

Stuart and Boshell were in the dug-out when City defeated Ossett Town 8-0 in the second round, with their absences among the reasons for a much-changed line-up featuring a number of fringe players.

More of the same can be expected against Yorkshire Amateur, especially with City's reserves enjoying a great unbeaten run.

"We'll be giving some players a chance to step up into the first team – players who are on the fringes and who have been doing well for the reserves," said Stuart.
