Farsley Celtic have announced a third new signing, securing striker Tristram Whitman to follow the recruitment of former Leeds United youth Mark Jackson from Rochdale and Jimmy Kelly.

The new arrival will further strengthen the squad after the club's promotion to the Conference League in May.

Whitman knows the division, renamed the Blue Square Premier following a recent sponsorship deal, after playing 53 games for Tamworth.

He also had experience of the country's fifth tier when he was with Doncaster Rovers. The lively forward spent over three years at the South Yorkshire outfit, making 68 first-team appearances.

More transfer activity is expected now that manager Lee Sinnott is back from a short holiday. The financial side is also gathering momentum and Sinnott and his staff will know just how much their budget has increased.

The Celts revealed that the first of the Blue Square advertising boards have been delivered to Throstle Nest. Along with the other sponsor partners' liveries, the perimeter fencing will have a totally new look next season.

Farsley's commercial manager, former BBC Radio Leeds presenter John Boyd, has been extremely busy and has already sold the advertising on the back of the shirts. He is now negotiating with several companies for the front of shirt space.

With Setanta Sports broadcasting highlights and live games from the league, there is also some interest for a ground-naming deal, options for which are being discussed.

Celts chairman Andy Firbank said: "After spending a day with John recently, I was taken aback at the level of support being offered by local businesses, which will make our job much easier next season.

"We are now dealing on a different level with national companies and even international interest, which has been triggered by the league being televised around the globe.

"John has already exceeded the halfway mark for his season's target. That was done in the first couple of weeks after promotion and he continues to do a first-rate job for us."
