City Supporters' Trust chairman Alan Carling has welcomed a new initiative to encourage fans to help behind the scenes at Valley Parade.

Joint-chairman Mark Lawn revealed at the fans forum this week that a new voluntary group was being set up called The Friends of Bradford City.

The scheme is designed to encourage supporters to use whatever skills they have to help the club save money.

"It is an excellent idea to mobilise all the skills and resources that are available on a voluntary basis from people committed to the club," said Carling.

"This is already happening with the Supporters' Trust and other groups and I look forward to working with Mark Lawn to make the best use of all the voluntary effort that's available to the club."

Lawn explained: "Supporters will be able to register their name and volunteer their services, however big or small.

"Whether it's as an electrician, joiner, painting and decorating, stewarding, whatever.

"Anyone who feels they can contribute can help save the club money, which will mean Stuart McCall will have more funds available."

Carling said this week's fans forum provided further evidence of the feel-good factor at Valley Parade following new boss McCall's arrival.

"Someone used the word euphoric and it confirmed that there is a fantastic atmosphere around the place and that Stuart's arrival has transformed the situation," he said.

"Never have so many people from a relegated club looked forward so much to starting life in the English Fourth Division. Everybody at the club is pulling in the right direction."
