Stuart McCall was given a euphoric welcome home by hundreds of City supporters at a fans forum last night.

It was standing room only for many in a packed-out McCall Suite as the new boss pledged to return the good times.

The first public appearance of the City legend since his return was greeted with cheers that nearly raised the roof.

Fans were not left disappointed as McCall promised to bring back "passionate, attacking, winning football."

Speaking afterwards to the T&A, McCall said: "It was a terrific welcome back.

"We have got a feel-good factor about the club and how long that lasts will be determined by how things go on the pitch.

"It is my job to bring the right players into the club and get the performances right.

"The supporters at the forum were great and I hope they get behind the players in the same way."

Along with new joint chairman Mark Lawn and marketing man David Baldwin, McCall fielded one-and-a-half hours worth of questions with his usual enthusiasm and wit.

He asked fans to remain patient regarding new signings, though he was hopeful that a couple could be made this week.

"I don't know this division and I don't know the players in it," he said.

He added that he may have to bring in three of four players without having seen them play but these would only be on recommendation from trusted contacts.

McCall, like his predecessor Colin Todd, also said he may look to sign youngsters on loan from bigger clubs.

Meanwhile, Lawn quelled the rumour that the club's youth team was to be scrapped but added that the function - which he said cost £250,000 to run last season - needed to break even.

He added that he was planning talks in America which could lead to a possible youth link-up with a European club.

Lawn also said he would like to buy City's ground back within three years.

The Bantams currently pay a six-figure rent to former chairman Gordon Gibb's Flamingo Land family pension fund.
