STUART McCall has stressed that he will never tolerate diving at City.

The unbeaten Bantams aim to get back to winning ways at home to Fleetwood tonight after five straight draws.

But McCall has made it clear he would not allow his side to look to win at all costs by play-acting.

The City chief admitted he was shocked by Phil Parkinson's accusations after the Bolton stalemate.

McCall said: "From someone who picked up Beni Carbone by his ponytail in a Premier League game for falling on the floor, it's not something I adhere to.

"It surprised me what Phil said but he's entitled to his own opinion. But it never crossed my mind during the game that there was any suggestion of play-acting there.

"Some of our players took some strong challenges, you can see by the booking count."

Mark Marshall was yellow-carded for simulation after going down in the penalty area between Bolton duo Chris Taylor and Lewis Buxton – but McCall felt the winger was hard done by.

He said: "You can see by the full back's face that there is contact. I'm not saying it was a penalty but it certainly wasn't a dive either.

"If my players go down and it's blatant simulation, they know the consequences for that.

"Watching it live, I thought it could have been a pen on another day but it certainly wasn't a theatrical dive."

Marshall insisted he did nothing wrong and should not be branded with a reputation for going to ground.

The winger said: "I spoke to Buxton and he admitted he did clip me but maybe I went over theatrically. But I was in full flow.

"If it was anywhere else on the pitch, say near the centre circle, I would have got a foul. There was no simulation.

"So why not give a penalty? Maybe with the pressure of the game it was easier not to disrupt anything.

"The times I've had little knocks and could have gone over but I've stumbled and tried to stay up. I'm an honest player."

McCall is considering changes for the Cod Army clash as City target their second home win. With James Hanson still missing, he is still working on his number one attacking partnership.

While City are the only side still to lose in League One, they are averaging only just over a goal a game.

McCall said: "I wouldn't say we're concerned but it's something we're aware of and something we're working at – be it formations, partnerships, getting the ball in the area better, set plays – everything that gives you a chance to get a goal.

"We haven't decided on our best front two. To be honest, we haven't had enough people fit.

"Big James has been in and out, Saturday was Marc McNulty's first start for a long time and Jordy (Hiwula) has played different positions.

"We'll be horses for courses. We played Marshy up front at Bolton as something different with a bit of pace.

"But what I do know is we've got enough players in the squad who are capable of scoring – and that's in midfield as well as the strikers."

Yet McCall would happily settle for an ugly 1-0 win this evening.

The Bantams boss said: "We're at home now so we've got to find a way to win. To do that we need to be creating opportunities.

"I don't want to get too obsessed about it because Saturday was a tough game. But at home we want to be on the front foot, which we have been in all the games.

"We didn't create loads against Bristol Rovers but we did enough to win – and certainly in the draws prior to that against Oldham and Port Vale, we created a lot and played really well.

"You always look for a level of performance but we still want to create more and be more of a threat."
