MATTY Blythe believes the Bulls are on the brink of “something special” as they bid to seal their top-four spot.

Rohan Smith's men will confirm their place in the end-of-season lottery with victory at Featherstone on Sunday.

Blythe is poised for a recall to the side in the centres after being rested for last week's win over Oldham.

The former Warrington man is in confident mood as the Bulls seek to emerge victorious in this weekend’s winner-takes-all showdown.

He said: “I try not to read too much into the financial implications because we have a hard enough job as it is on the field by making tackles and running our blood to water.

“But there is no denying it’s a big game for the club and I see it as an opportunity to do something special for ourselves and for the club.

“Certainly everyone within our group knows what's at stake this weekend.

“We put our bodies on the line the minute we step on the field every week.

“Some results and performances haven't gone our way this season, but we work hard as a team and we always will.

“If we play to our capabilities at the weekend, then everything else will take care of itself.”

Adrian Purtell, Mitch Clark and Paul Clough remain sidelined and the game is likely to come too soon for Lee Gaskell.

But Blythe, Ben Kavanagh, Alex Mellor and Jay Pitts are all vying for a place in the 17 for Sunday’s match, which will see over 2,000 Bulls supporters make the trip to Post Office Road.

Blythe played in the Million Pound Game against Wakefield last year and added: “Personally, I enjoy the pressure of these games.

“Last year there was probably a bit of anxiety heading into that Wakefield game but there is a different mentality this year.

“As soon as we get to Featherstone on Sunday, though, I know I will be nervous.

“But it's about turning that nervous energy into positive energy.”

Blythe feels he has blossomed under Smith’s guidance as he explained: “I've worked hard doing my extras to try and stay injury free.

“I've also read up on a few ideas that Rohan has put across as well, which has helped me further.

“I'm feeling a lot more nimble and I love working for the team.

“If there is any attribute I would say I have, it's my enthusiasm.

“Super League is where we want to be, but we have to focus on getting past Featherstone before we think about anything else.

“They are a tough side and have been on a good run.”

The transfer deadline closes at 5pm today and head coach Smith has not ruled out adding to his squad.

He said: “There are a few things which could potentially happen.”
