FEW players have given better value for money to Bradford in recent seasons than Adam Sidlow.

The 28-year-old prop was brought to Odsal by Francis Cummins ahead of the 2013 campaign and has not looked back since.

Although the Bulls were relegated in 2014 and failed to come back up last year, Sidlow has continued to prosper in the red, amber and black.

The Wiganer was particularly effective alongside Paul Clough during last week's home win over Swinton as a dominant opening quarter led to a thumping 54-8 win.

Sidlow, who got on the scoresheet, captained the side in the absence of injured skipper Adrian Purtell and said: "Swinton have a big pack and they put three props on the bench – so we knew we had to meet them head on and give it to them, which I thought we did.

"I was told to shoot out of the line, get some good shots on and make some decent metres with the ball in hand.

"I felt as though I did that and made up for how I played against London two weeks earlier.

"I was jaded in that game because I hadn't played for a while with my hand injury.

"I was very disappointed with my comeback but I was quite happy with how I played last week.

"For once, we actually carried out the game-plan we had been given and stuck to it.

"We did a bit of what London had done to us – we put our foot on Swinton's throat and they couldn't live with us.

"If Purts can't be captain, I'm proud as punch to do so. I'm not a big talker but I try and set an example with my actions and hopefully the boys will follow.

"Coming to Bradford was one of the best things I've ever done. I love it here."

New head coach Rohan Smith will take charge of his first game at Sheffield tonight and Sidlow will be out to impress again.

The former Salford front-rower said: "Rohan came into the dressing room to speak to us after the Swinton game and then had one-on-ones with all the players earlier this week.

"If he is anything like his dad (Brian Smith) or uncle (Tony Smith), he will certainly be a good coach."

Matt Diskin recently stated that the Bulls need to start performing if promotion is to become a realistic prospect.

Sidlow admitted: "We've definitely not been on our game this season, although we've had a few injuries and have not been able to get the starting 17 we want out on the pitch.

"Ben Kavanagh got injured again last week bu, when everyone is fit, we're a force to be reckoned with if we stick to the game-plan.

"A lot of players are coming off contract and don't know where their heads are at the minute.

"But I think as soon as the club get players signed up, to know they are staying and fighting for a position every week, it can only help the team.

"I'm here for another year and if Rohan can persuade some of the out-of-contract lads to stay, then all well and good. But we need to get as many signed up as soon as possible."

While Sidlow shone last week, it was James Clare who seized centre stage with a highly impressive display at full back which harvested two tries and a fine assist for Danny Addy.

Sidlow said: "I pulled James to one side in the showers afterwards and said 'You killed it today'. He should have scored a hat-trick."
