CITY'S home game against Burton today has been postponed.
Referee Trevor Kettle called it off after two inspections of the pitch this morning and speaking with police on road closure, advice, safety and weather forecasts.
The wet weather has already claimed a number of games in the north, including Monday's opponents Sheffield United at Wigan.
Stadium manager David Dowse said: “I rang the referee at 6.55am to tell him we were going to have concerns.
“Burton were due to leave at 10.45am and their supporters at 11.30am.
“The referee first had a look at 10am and the ball wasn’t moving. We decided to leave it to wait to have a word with the manager.
“We went through all the usual principles. There was a chink of light in the weather forecast for later but that was too little, too late and the pitch wasn’t playable.
“We also had to consider supporters coming in from areas where there has been flooding.
“The circumstances were different to the Southend postponement but it is the right decision.”
Bradford Park Avenue and Guiseley have also fallen victim to the heavy rain.
