JAMES Clare admits he would like to take a step onto the coaching ladder at the Bulls after working with children in his local area.

The full back or winger has coached youngsters aged four to 14 in the Castleford area for the past couple of years.

The Elite Rugby Academy was formed in 2012 by former Tigers stars Ryan Hudson and Danny Orr, with Clare one of a number of current professionals who take sessions.

Clare enjoys the work and is hoping to get involved at Bradford, possibly with the scholars in the under-16s.

"I spent a fair bit of time during the off-season coaching at the Elite Rugby Academy in the Castleford, Pontefract and Knottingley areas," he said.

"We get paid for it but not a great deal and it's more about giving something back. Nearly every kid who comes down is a Cas or a Leeds fan.

"I think the first time I went down during my time at Cas, there was someone with my name and number on their shirt. That was a special feeling and he said he chose that just because I coached him.

"It's just about giving these kids a pathway because, as youngsters, we never had the chance to be coached by professionals."

A number of Bulls first-team squad members have helped out with coaching the scholars and academy prospects in the under-16s and under-19s respectively.

Clare, who joined Bradford from Castleford midway through last season, is aiming to follow suit and said: "I'm 24 and coaching is potentially something I could get more into because I absolutely love it.

"I'm only coaching kids at the minute and it would be completely different to doing it in a scholarship, academy or first-team environment.

"I know Danny Addy and Jay Pitts are looking at doing the under-16s at the Bulls, so perhaps helping out at the club could be an option. I'm going to try and help them out when I can."
