WEST Bowling goalkeeper Ashley Onitiri produced a man-of-the-match performance as they progressed to the third round of the FA Sunday Cup.

They won 3-1 against Liverpool & District Sunday League Premier Division side Allerton at South Liverpool FC and Onitiri set the tone by foiling an Allerton striker with a superb one-on-one save after two minutes.

This was to be the first important contribution of a superb afternoon for the Bowling shot-stopper, who was aided by his back four in a well-organised defensive display.

After 20 minutes, the visitors thought they had been awarded a penalty but the referee said the foul was outside the area, Joe Jagger making light of the decision by hammering home an unstoppable drive.

Andy Kenyon made it 2-0 ten minutes later but Allerton pulled a goal back via a 50th-minute penalty and then lost their keeper 20 minutes later when another spot-kick was awarded.

Tensions could have risen when West Bowling missed the penalty but Kenyon soon got his second goal to book a last-32 tie against Hardwick Social from Middlesbrough on Sunday, December 13.

The weather decimated the Bradford Sunday Alliance League programme.

However, Thornton United missed the chance to put some daylight between themselves and the chasing pack in the Premier Division by being held to 2-2 by Buttershaw Celtic.

Buttershaw were leading 2-1 with five minutes left, Danny Walker and Josh Milner netting for United and Liam Keeley and Nathan Regan replying.

In Division 1A, Bradford Vale led 3-1 at half-time at Clayton Village Sports & Social via Daniel Duckworth, Reece Gorman and Jamie Fridlington.

In the second half, the home team were in command, with Joe Cullen hitting four goals and Mike Kennedy the other in a 6-3 victory.
