YORKSHIRE'S batsmen spent the second morning strengthening their side's grip on their LV= County Championship match against Somerset at Headingley.
By lunch the home side had advanced to 236-4, a lead of 126 with plenty of power to add this afternoon.
The star of the show was nightwatchman Steve Patterson, who batted through the morning in relatively untroubled fashion and was 44 not out when the payers returned to the pavilion.
The one wicket to fall was that of Gary Ballance, who had made 91 when he succumbed to the new ball, edging Craig Overton to Marcus Trescothick at second slip.
Ballance faced 188 balls and batted for 223 minutes, his fourth-wicket stand with Patterson being worth 90 runs.
Jonny Bairstow was eight not out at lunch but it was Patterson who led the players in and received a standing ovation from the Headingley crowd.
