IT is crunch time for Ilkley and Guiseley when they go head to head tomorrow in what could be an AIRE-WHARFE LEAGUE Division One relegation decider.

Steeton’s victory last week lifted them 35 points above the drop zone with only 60 left to play for, so it looks as though it will two from Ilkley (134pts), Guiseley (131) and Follifoot (130) to drop into Division Two.

Follifoot have a tricky match against third-placed Kirkstall so whoever comes out on top between Ilkley and Guiseley can take a massive step towards safety.

Guiseley notched their first win of the season when the sides met in June, Bradley Reeve (5-32) and Chris Wain (3-21) dismissing Ilkley for 117.

And Guiseley were well on top against Burley before the rain robbed them last week.

But Ilkley, too, have shown improved form recently, including in an abandoned game against leaders Otley last week.

They have several players capable of swinging matches including former Guiseley skipper Dave Pennett, fresh from a seven-wicket haul against the leaders.

Otley will be looking for maximum points at North Leeds as they try to extend their 12-point lead over Beckwithshaw before the pair meet in the final week showdown.

They will also be cheering on Steeton, hoping that with survival almost ensured, they can dent Beckwithshaw’s charge.

With only pride at stake, Rawdon travel to Bilton, looking to avenge a heavy defeat earlier in the season.

Burley are at Collingham, a side they thrashed buy 115 runs earlier in the season when Jason Wright top scored with 68 and then took 4-10.

When Skipton lost by nine wickets to Illingworth in June, their opponents took over fourth place in Division Two shoving them down to fifth.

But since then Skipton have lost only one match and taken over at the top of the table while Illingworth have won just two and are out of the promotion race in sixth.

It will be a major upset if Skipton don’t gain revenge tomorrow.

Of the chasing pack, second-placed Horsforth and fourth-placed Colton tackle Green Lane and Harden, respectively, both sides in the dog fight against relegation.

Third placed Pool are just 13 points behind Horsforth, a gap that would be narrower if they had managed to take one more wicket before the rain stopped their last encounter with tomorrow’s opponents Thackley.

Ben Rhydding will breathe a great sigh of relief if they can complete the double over Knaresborough and lift themselves further from the bottom two while Tong Park Esholt know that nothing less than victory will do at Adel if they are to survive the drop.

The clash of the day in Division Three sees leaders Addingham entertain Old Modernians, who have made an impressive start to their Aire Wharfe career and are still in with an outside chance of promotion.

Second-placed Olicanian will be hot favourites against Alwoodley, a side they skittled out for 39 earlier in the season when Bernard Hughes took 7-13.

Hall Park’s promotion chances look to have gone but they might revive them if they can beat inconsistent New Rover who are currently third.

Calverley can keep their hopes alive with victory over rock-bottom Silsden but will have to improve on last week’s performance when only rain stopped a heavy defeat by Hall Park.

Bolton Villas travel to Bardsey while Menston are at Upper Wharfedale.
