SSE Yorkshire Division Three
Baildon 32
Bramley Phoenix 14
BAILDON ended Bramley's Phoenix's six-game winning streak and put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone ahead of matches against bottom two Hemsworth and Aireborough.
The Jenny Laners opened their account with a penalty in the first minute and used quick turnovers and deep kicks into a piercing sun to discomfort the visitors' back three.
After 14 minutes, Baildon scrum half Robbie Hill's kick was fly-hacked towards Phoenix's line by second row Tom Peel, who picked the ball up and stumbled over the line, fly half Ollie Waddington's conversion making it 10-0.
Defending well and dominating the scrums, Baildon scored a similar try 20 minutes later, flanker Harrison Strauss hacking the ball on twice before diving on it.
Gaining in confidence, Baildon rolled a maul 50 metres downfield, Waddington adding a penalty before converting Hill's try, the half-back dummying before slipping through a small gap in Bramley's defence to touchdown.
Trailing 25-0, Bramley now had the slope and, after going close on several occasions, they scored a converted tries in the 68th and 78th minutes.
Both sides were chasing a bonus point now, but Waddington picked up a ball that popped out of a ruck and ran 50 metres to score and convert and herald the final whistle.
