JAMIE Peacock’s testimonial match will see the Bulls face Leeds at Headingley to honour the legendary former England captain's achievements.

The 36-year-old prop, who will retire at the end of 2015, has enjoyed a glorious career which has seen him win a record eight Grand Finals.

The first three of those successes came in the red, amber and black of Bradford, the latter five with his hometown club Leeds.

Now the two great West Yorkshire rivals will clash on Sunday, January 25 to pay tribute to Peacock’s incredible feats in what could be the last time he faces his old club.

With the Bulls plying their trade in the Championship next season, Peacock was keen to secure them as Leeds’ opposition in his testimonial game.

He said: “Firstly, I would like to thank James Lowes and the Bulls board for agreeing to come to Headingley Carnegie for this game.

“To have a testimonial game is a real honour and I am grateful to all those who have made this possible.

“I know throughout my career how special any meeting between Leeds and Bradford is and with us playing in different competitions this season, it will certainly give this game extra significance.”

Peacock played with Bulls boss Lowes and Rhinos coach Brian McDermott in the all-conquering Bradford side of yesteryear.

The rival bosses were keen to pay tribute to a player who enjoyed an outstanding 2014 campaign and was nominated for the Man of Steel award.

Lowes said: “Jamie has been a fantastic servant to the game of rugby league, Leeds Rhinos and of course Bradford Bulls, where it all began for him.

“He wanted to see the Rhinos go up against us and we were happy to accept his request.

“The game will provide us with another high-quality test, in which we will make use of a full squad. It will be another step up for us.

“For us, by that point, it will be about ironing things out, readying ourselves for regular-season action. I am sure there will be a great atmosphere at Headingley. It is a game for our supporters to look forward to.”

The match will be the third and final pre-season outing for the Bulls in successive Sundays in January.

They travel to Castleford in Andy Lynch’s testimonial on January 11, host Huddersfield seven days later and then head to Leeds the following week.

Peacock’s testimonial will be Leeds’ final outing before their Super League opener at Hull KR on February 8 and McDermott will name his strongest possible side for the match.

The Rhinos boss said: “Jamie thoroughly deserves this testimonial game after he has given so much to the game over the last two decades.

“I know the Leeds fans will turn out in force to show their support for him and I am sure the Bulls fans will do likewise given the success he has brought to both clubs.

“This will be our final game before we play Hull KR in the opening round of the competition and it will be a key part of our preparations as we look to start the new campaign in good form.”

The game will kick-off at 3pm and tickets are on sale now starting from £15 for adults and £5 for juniors.

Corporate hospitality is also available for the game and a pre-match food and ticket package.

Tickets are available from the Bulls website, from the Provident Stadium and over the phone (08448-711490).
