Bradford & Bingley 50 Horden 0

BRADFORD & Bingley jumped three league places to a more respectable ninth following their seven-try romp against bottom-of- the-table Horden.

The Bees were also the first team to deny Horden any points this season.

The home side played some of their best rugby of the season.

But at the same time there were far too many simple errors and stray passes around the contact area.

The first points of the afternoon came from the forwards as a maul in the left-hand corner was trundling to the Horden line, when skipper Brett Mitchell broke off the back to jog in unopposed. Shaun Driver added the conversion.

The same player added a penalty after ten minutes and converted an Adam Mitchell score seven minutes later.

In the 26th minute winger Tom Gough charged down the right wing and chipped the ball over the final defenders, rounding the Horden full back to collect his own kick and dot down near the posts.

Driver missed the conversion but only had to wait two minutes for another shot at the posts as Adam Wellington scored.

It was 29-0 with 28 minutes played and a cricket score looked a real possibility.

Just as the referee was ready to end the half, Driver jinked through and improved his own score to finish the half at 36-0.

With his side enjoying such dominance, Bees coach Stuart Dixon took the opportunity to bring on all three replacements but the substitution of Richard Scull seemed to take the edge off their attacking play,.

However, Bradford & Bingley stuck to their task and, replacement Luke Peacock outpaced the defence from halfway to score.

Scull returned to the fray for the last 20 minutes and topped off his day’s work with a score converted by Driver.
