MIDFIELDER Matty Dolan will not be going out on loan from City – for now.

The 21-year-old has been reduced to the role of unused substitute since recovering from a hip injury last month.

It has been a frustrating period for Dolan after an encouraging pre-season when he came back fit and firing to compete for regular action.

Phil Parkinson has resisted the temptation to send him out somewhere else to get some game time but he may review the situation later in the month.

The City boss said: "Matty had that injury which set him back for a few weeks but he is training hard and waiting for his chance.

“When we got Andy Halliday in, we were talking about maybe getting him out for a month’s loan but at the moment he will probably be with us for the next couple of weeks.

“As with every member of the squad, Matty knows that places are up for grabs.”

Dolan started the Capital One Cup opener at Morecambe in the first week of the season. His last full action was two months ago when he played the full 90 minutes as City were knocked out of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy by Oldham.

Four days later, he damaged a muscle in his hip after twisting awkwardly during the pre-match warm-up against Yeovil at Valley Parade.

Hartlepool, who approached the Bantams about Oliver McBurnie on Friday, are known to be keen admirers of Dolan.

He spent the first half of last season on loan at Victoria Park and Pools tried to make the move permanent before he opted to join City in January.

City are still closely monitoring the condition of Andrew Davies as they prepare to face Doncaster without his suspended centre-back partner Rory McArdle.

Parkinson said: “We left Andrew to have two days of complete rest and relaxation over the weekend. In the past, his body has reacted a lot better when we have done that and he’s felt much happier.”
