Bradford Salem 36 Roundhegians 0

BRADFORD Salem moved up into third inYorkshire Division Two with a comfortable win at Shay Lane.

The Salem back-line looked dangerous from the off and centre Ryan Smith crossed for an early try after slick handling.

Full-back Danny Belcher landed the conversion and followed up with a penalty to extend the lead before adding the extras when stand-off Andy Robinson scored Salem's second try.

Salem should have been out of sight when 18-year-old winger Alex Wood made a fine but his final pass went forward when he had four men in support.

Roundhegians were clearly lifted by this reprieve and Salem, who were reduced to 14 men after scrum-half Matt Child was sin-binned, spent the remainder of the half defending.

Salem seemed to up their game in the second half with the backs posing a continuous threat.

After being denied a try from a catch and drive, blind side flanker Conor Wood drove over from close range, Belcher tagging on the extras.

Salem were now in the ascendancy and they went 31-0 up when centre Chris Clough scored after more good handling in the backs.

Although Salem were guilty of losing too much ball in the breakdown, they finished the game off in style when Belcher ghosted over for a try.
