IT WAS a long journey down to Crawley but the result certainly made the trip worthwhile.

The lads want to say thank you to all the staff who make sure everything is prepared for us.

We travelled the day before the game and that always helps. It sets you up right and makes you want to go out there and give everything.

We stayed in a lovely hotel, the food was great and it showed on Tuesday with how fresh we looked.

Playing three away games in a week is tough especially with a very long journey but you could see that we were sharp and thoroughly deserved the win.

Those type of trips can seem three times as long on the way home if you’ve got beaten. That made Tuesday even more satisfying.

Crawley’s never an easy place to go and they were unbeaten as well. I can’t sing the lads’ praises high enough.

That was probably one of the best performances we’ve had in my three years at the club. We kept the ball very well, played some nice stuff and got it into Hans when we needed to.

We defended well too. I said to Stephen and Rozza before the game that we needed to continue the good work.

Unfortunately they scored once from a set-piece but apart from that, I thought we were great defensively and didn’t give them much.

They looked tired but we’ve played the same number of games and done all that travelling. So credit must go to Nick Allamby and the staff for getting us in such great condition.

It was just an all-round fantastic performance and I was proud of the lads. It’s another big week coming up now with Peterborough and Leeds and if we can play like that over the next couple of games, then I don’t see why we can’t win both of them.

The confidence in the dressing room is high but these results come through sheer hard work. You don’t just go out there and play.

When we didn’t have the ball in the Crawley game, we worked very hard to get it back. That’s just as important as when you are in possession yourselves.

Was Alan Birkinshaw actually in the team? Anyway, I hope Freddy is reading the above.
