LEEDS Bradford MCCU are through to a global decider.
They beat Cardiff by three wickets at Lord's to win the right to represent England at the world finals of Red Bull Campus Cricket. Leeds Bradford will now compete against the best cricketing universities, including teams from Australia, India and South Africa, in a twenty20 format.
The teams will compete in round-robin stages held at Wormsley Cricket Ground – possibly the most beautiful ground in England – on July 21-23, with the top four teams qualifying for finals day at the Kia Oval on Saturday, July 26.
Cardiff made 143, off-spinners Andy Laws (3-37) and Alex MacQueen (2-18) doing best with the ball.
Rain meant Leeds Bradford's target was reduced to 118, and they replied with 121-7, with former Lightcliffe player Charlie Roebuck hitting 35.
