Taylor steps into Farsley berth vacated by Morgan move

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: The lure of playing at a higher level was too much for Farsley goalkeeper Tom Morgan The lure of playing at a higher level was too much for Farsley goalkeeper Tom Morgan

FARSLEY manager Neil Parsley is continuing to build his squad for the coming season by systematically working his way through the players that served the club so well last term and getting them re-signed.

The process is a lengthy one and one that offers no guarantees. Even if the players do put pen to paper, they can still be tempted away by clubs higher up the pyramid system, which was the case this week when goalkeeper Tom Morgan departed for neighbouring Conference North outfit Bradford Park Avenue.

Parsley thought he had Morgan and Tom Taylor back in tandem at Throstle Nest vying for the No1 jersey for the coming campaign. But just days after the club had announced that the pair had committed for another year, Morgan completed a move to Horsfall.

Morgan had been with the club for a number of years, playing for Farsley AFC since they rose from the ashes of Farsley Celtic in 2010. He was a part of the Celts squad that gained promotion to the Football Conference under Lee Sinnott.

Parsley said: "Tom has decided to accept an offer from Bradford Park Avenue and I understand the draw of playing at a higher standard of football at a club with a much bigger budget.

"Tom has been with Farsley AFC since our rebirth and I would like to thank him for his commitment over the last few years.

"But as one door closes, another opens. Tom Taylor will now have the opportunity to cement a place in goal for us. Tom played a few games towards the end of last season and he did well.

"I'm really looking forward to seeing his progression – he is certainly one for the future. He moved away to gain some experience.

"He played a lot of matches at Brighouse and if he continues his progression he can go a long way in the game and play at a higher standard – and hopefully that's with Farsley."
