Bradford Bulls loanee Jay Pitts to miss Salford clash after being handed one-match ban

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Jay Pitts handed a one-match ban Jay Pitts handed a one-match ban

Bulls loanee Jay Pitts will miss Sunday's crunch clash at Salford Red Devils after being handed a one-match ban.

The Hull forward, who has impressed since joining Bradford in April, submitted an early guilty plea to a Grade B charge for a dangerous throw on Warrington's Anthony England during the Challenge Cup quarter-final defeat.

He will now miss the trip to Salford, dealing another blow to Francis Cummins' squad after Antonio Kaufusi chose not to extend his loan from Huddersfield.

Meanwhile, the Bulls are set to discover the outcome of their points appeal tomorrow (Wednesday).

Owner Marc Green this evening tweeted: "On the eve of finding out result of appeal, fingers crossed, whatever the outcome lets run together."

Shame but it wasn't the best of tackles.. This guy is a great prospect. Very hungry for work and never shy of the taking a knock or two when pushing for the hard yards forward. He'll be back with determination the week after.

Can't see us beating Salford with out him and Kaufusi.

If our players do not think they are under pressure for this game they need to wake up.

Wakey beat London and we lose to Salford then that is that, so this is yet another must win game. The only players that will not be under pressure are those that have already secured a new club for next season.

McPherson is homesick. Back to the NRL for him not the Championship.

The front-row is looking weaker than usual now. Manny and Sidlow but who are the replacements? Pitts was one of the few players who looked to be trying on Sunday. If the pack is going backwards, don't expect Gale or Addy to do their tackling for them. Adrian Morley, Lama Tasi, Gareth Hock, Tony Puletua, Francis Meli and Junior Sa'u are big, big lads. Still the season starts here and this is a must win game so let's hope Harris is doing a good job of uncoaching the rugby out of them and Cummins putting belief in ours. Oh, and of course, the pressure is all on the Red Devils whilst the Bulls are serenely sailing through the season.

Does the seem odd that the players aren't feeling under pressure whilst us the fans are.

If we get 6 points back, then wins on Sunday against Salford and next Thursday against Hull KR could mean we avoid the drop. A potential 10 points on offer by next Thursday. How vital that would be. Shame the players can't see the importance of it

On a different note. I presume Tim Smith hasn't cut short his Salford contract AND agreed to go to Wakefield for less money. How can they afford to add Tim Smith's wage to that of Sammut and Scruton. On top of their squad at the start of the season. Will there be be points deduction for breach of salary cap?

The front row is a joke. Manuokafoa is a waste of space and never breaks a tackle and offloads as we were led to believe was his trademark. All he does is take 3 steps then stops and waits to be tackled. Added to that we have an aging centre with toe problems at prop and a hooker who should have retired last year at the latest. We have no on field general and no 'stand out' player or 'Maverick' to change a game. Our attack is awful, slow and predictable and our defence at best questionable. Now we have just lost Pitts and Kafosi has gone back-you think we will stop Morley, Hock, Pelatua & S'au from walking all over us and Chase running the show while we stand and watch will beat Salford? Don't make me laugh

Yes I do look for the positives in life. It's what separates me from miserable buggers like you!

I'm hoping for 6 points back because I'm a Bulls fan

You're hoping they get none back. Because.....Well I can't actually think of any reason why it matters so much to you.
