Yorkshire lunch update

Yorkshire enjoyed a productive morning to leave Lancashire wobbling at 178-5 as they took lunch on day two of the County Championship contest at Headingley.

The Red Rose visitors had built a reasonable platform at 87-2 before play started this morning after a rain-delayed opening day.

They then advanced the score to 123-2 thanks to Paul Horton (66) and former South Africa Test player Ashwell Prince.

But Liam Plunkett struck twice as, along with a Jack Brooks wicket, the White Rose county earned an advantage.

Brooks was first up as he bowled Horton, shouldering arms, to leave the score at 123-3.

Plunkett then had Steven Croft caught behind down the leg-side with only another 13 added.

And when Prince, struggling with a back injury, was trapped lbw by the same man, Lancashire were suddenly 155-5.

Tom Smith was resuming this afternoon on 17 with wicketkeeper Alex Davies for company on 13.
