Garry Thompson’s first goal for nearly eight months ensured City signed off at Valley Parade with a win.
Thompson came off the bench to score a late header and make it back-to-back home victories to finish off for Phil Parkinson’s side.
Aaron Mclean had netted the first – with only his third goal for the club.
The first half was very low key after Matt Tubbs had scuffed wide an early chance.
City’s first efforts on note came from the two centre halves but Rory McArdle’s header and a blast from Andrew Davies were both straight at the keeper.
Mark Yeates, making his first start since before Christmas, looked to get on the ball in his role behind the front two. And he went close with a free-kick that just flew past the top corner.
Mclean broke the deadlock five minutes after the break, coolly firing home from Nathan Doyle’s ball over the top.
Crawley levelled midway through the half as Jamie Proctor seized on fellow sub Carl McHugh’s indecision to clip over a stranded Jon McLaughlin.
But City clinched the win four minutes from time when Thompson flicked home a header from Gary Jones’s corner.
It ensured that a day that had begun in sombre manner with the traditional minute’s silence for the fire victims ended in high spirits.

Interesting to see that Adam Reach is starting for Middlesbrough against Barnsley today.
Not sure that's great news for Phil Parkinson's bid to get him back on loan again next season tho...
Crawley are playing their 19th game in 63 days as they play catch-up after being hit hard by the wet weather earlier in the year.
They will line up with five in midfield supporting on-loan Bournemouth striker Matt Tubbs.
CRAWLEY: Jones, Connolly, McFadzean, Walsh, Sadler, Jones, Dicker, Bulman, Simpson, Edwards, Tubbs. Subs: Essam, Torres, Fallon, Proctor, Isaacs, Richefond, Maddison.
Mark Yeates makes his first start since December 21 as City make two changes from the side beaten at Swindon.
With Adam Reach back at Middlesbrough, Yeates takes his place and is expected to play in the role behind the front two.
Aaron Mclean comes in for Kyle Bennett but there is no James Hanson again, who is still obviously not 100 per cent.
But Nathan Doyle has been declared fit despite his groin problem. He is likely to sit behind Gary Jones and Raffaele De Vita.
James Meredith is again on the bench after playing the second half on Monday. Matty Dolan is another sub after missing the last game with a tweak.
CITY: McLaughlin, Darby, McArdle, Davies, Drury, Doyle, De Vita, Jones, Yeates, Mclean, Stead. Subs: Meredith, Dolan, Thompson, McHugh, McBurnie, Bennett, Jameson.
RT @officialbantams: #bcafc - The flag will be in place until just before today's minute's silence. http://t.co/icpWaMTkBk— @BenRedemtion 26 April 2014
Good afternoon and welcome from Valley Parade for City's final home game of the season against Crawley.
Before kick-off there will be the traditional minute's silence to remember the victims of the fire.
There will also be a presentation to Professor David Sharpe on the pitch.
