9:49pm

Forget the maths, City are safe!
Adam Reach’s stunning free-kick clinched their first home win in five attempts in his final appearance at Valley Parade.
The win over sixth-placed Posh, who played the second half with ten men after Shaun Brisley’s red card, puts the Bantams nine points clear of the bottom four.
And with the massive advantage in goal difference, they can relax over a job done.
It was nervier than it should have been but City were far more positive than the last two home games against Walsall and Oldham.
Sub Kyle Bennett  had a point-blank header saved and James Hanson, back from injury, saw a late effort scrambled off the line.

9:40pm

It's all over, City are SAFE!

9:40pm

Hanson shot cleared off the line by Ntlhe... now Posh have one last corner...

9:37pm

Shot from Little saved low down by McLaughlin

9:36pm

Four more minutes to see off... and Posh have a corner. Up comes the keeper!

9:33pm

Peterborough heading for their 18th defeat of the season - and they are in sixth

9:31pm

Another chance for Bennett to wrap it up but he gets underneath the shot from the edge of the area

9:21pm

Reach cross, Bennett times his run - and his header is blocked by Day. Or rather, it hits the keeper who knew little about it

9:21pm

Posh make their last sub as Isgrove comes on for Washington

9:19pm

9:19pm

But they still haven't managed a single shot on target

9:18pm

Another Posh corner. They are certainly having a go

9:18pm

Drury booked for kicking the ball away after Jones gives away a foul...

9:17pm

Reach shot beaten away at near post for a corner. City's first - about time....

9:15pm

Bennett straight away into the action with a cross that is just too high for Hanson to direct on goal....

9:12pm

Double change for City after 68 minutes. Mclean on for Stead, Bennett for De Vita - who's had an excellent game

9:11pm

Reach drives down left, Hanson controls his cross into the path of Stead. But his partner wants too many touches and the door is slammed shut

9:11pm

Tonight's crowd is 13,820 with 652 up from Peterborough

9:09pm

Peterborough don't look like a team missing a player. Assombalonga dangerous again with a curler just beyond the far post...

9:06pm

Davies back on now. Let battle recommence...

9:06pm

With City still down to ten, Payne fires over from edge of the box

9:05pm

Davies hobbling off but pointing the finger at the Posh striker as he goes.... there could be some afters

9:05pm

Assombalonga stood on the defender who looks in a fair bit of pain

9:03pm

Davies on the floor getting treatment...

9:03pm

Darby to the rescue for City as Assombalonga latches on to Alcock's pass and cuts in from the right. McLaughlin comes out to try and block and the striker's squared pass is intercepted by Darby in the six-yard box

9:01pm

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Adam Reach

Adam Reach opens the scoring

9:01pm

Assombalonga shot deflects off Davies, wrong-footing McLaughlin, but clears the bar.... This one is far from over

8:59pm

8:58pm

Booming chorus of Midland Road rings round the ground...

8:58pm

Taken short and quickly but Drury is alert to any danger and City clear comfortably

8:57pm

But they do have a corner...

8:57pm

Davies backs into Washington and Ferguson unhappy that the City defender stops Posh taking a quick free-kick...

8:52pm

Reach straight on it again, bursting forward before clipping left-foot shot over bar

8:50pm

Two half-time changes from Posh as Bostwick replaces Ajose and Alcock on for Newell...

8:47pm

8:46pm

8:35pm

And that's half-time. What a good half it's been for the Bantams....

8:32pm

three minutes of stoppages to go....

8:27pm

It nearly gets worse for Posh as De Vita's thundering volley flies just wide....

8:27pm

David Wetherall, who's sat next to me, thought that was harsh. Centre-halves union....

8:26pm

And now yellow turns to red... Brisley brings down Reach and off he goes

8:25pm

Peterborough centre half Brisley is first name in the book for flattening Stead

8:19pm

Reach again but he cannot keep this one on target....

8:19pm

City playing with swagger now as Drury lets rip with angled blast that Day turns away

8:14pm

What a fantastic strike that was, bending the free-kick over the wall and into the top left-hand corner of Day's net....

8:13pm

Reach going to take it - GOAL

8:12pm

Reach brought down 25 yards out, dead centre...

8:10pm

Cross of the day from De Vita bends invitingly to the far post where Hanson just fails to make contact...

8:07pm

Jones hooks a volley over the bar

8:06pm

Davies gets away with it after letting a ball run for his keeper that was never going to get there... luckily McArdle was alive to the cross to clear

8:04pm

First corner of proceedings and it's a Posh one

8:04pm

De Vita cuts inside to stretch Day with a daisy-cutter...

8:00pm

First threat of the night. Clever flick round the corner from Ajose and Rowe fires just wide from outside the box.

7:58pm

Darby tees up Reach for a pop from 25 yards but he cannot keep it down

7:55pm

Fast feet from Reach, breaking on to Jones pass, but cannot keep his cross in play

7:54pm

McArdle makes important penalty-box challenge on Washington and Rowe thrashes loose ball high into the Kop

7:53pm

City matching up Peterborough's diamond midfield. Reach playing just behind front two, Doyle sitting again in front of back four

7:52pm

Posh first foray forward, two shots blocked and then Payne thrashes one wide from 20 yards

7:50pm

Crowd in good voice for this. Peterborough, to be fair, making some noise as well

7:48pm

Reach run blocked but ball runs loose for De Vita to tee up Doyle. Keeper saves above his head

7:46pm

Posh get us underway kicking towards the Kop

7:20pm

7:18pm

Considering it's a lovely sunny evening everywhere else, it's flippin' cold here!

7:05pm

Peterborough first-choice goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik is ill so Joe Day comes in between the posts.

His last appearance was an inglorious one when they lost 5-4 at Oldham after leading 4-2 with 20 minutes to go...

There are three changes in all.

PETERBOROUGH: Day, Little, Brisley, Baldwin, Ntlhe, Payne, Newell, Rowe, Ajose, Washington, Assombalonga. Subs: Alcock, Bostwick, McCann, Nugent, McQuoid, Isgrove, Lynch.

6:45pm

6:44pm

James Hanson is back for City tonight.

The centre forward's return is one of two changes from the goalless draw last Friday at Rotherham.

Hanson replaces Matty Dolan and Raffaele De Vita comes in for Kyel Bennett so it looks like City will revert to 4-4-2. It's De Vita's first start since November 9.

Aaron Mclean is also on the bench against the club where he made his name after recovering from a hamstring problem.

CITY: McLaughlin, Darby, McArdle, Davies, Drury, De Vita, Jones, Doyle, Reach, Stead, Hanson. Subs: Dolan, Thompson, Bennett, Yeates, McHugh, Mclean, Barker.

6:38pm

Good evening and welcome from Valley Parade as City face sixth-placed Peterborough.

No team news for another few minutes but James Hanson is certainly here...

And so is Sir Alex Ferguson checking on his lad's team!

three very good and priceless points, even better when not expected. now all can relax and think forward to next season, but lets see if we can scrape a few more before then to cap it all off.

Great first half, even against a full quota but definitely took our foot off at the start of the second half and let Peterborough play at us. Should've been more attack minded. Reach terrorised them playing behind the front two, shouldn't have changed that, we had them on the rails!

Great end to the game though, finished really well, both teams gave it a good go. Really enjoyed it. Well done City, great start to the Easter weekend, and I won a tenner backing the correct score! CTID

Thought we started fairly brightly then switched to the diamond, and they were in the ascendancy, but it was a brilliant strike from Reach, then after that formation caused them a whole load of problems, with Adam revelling in his free role.

Probably didn't use the ball as well as we could've done after the sending off, but it was just a case of getting the job done, and we had the chances to kill them off a lot sooner.

It was always going to be a testing season losing your leading goalscorer midway through, and to finish around mid table represents a pretty decent achievement.

Well done lads, I am proud of you.

Excellent win and very good performance against a top six side...shows we can compete...but Wells and Reach are big losses in different parts of the seaspn...only as a Championship club ourselves will talent like theirs remain on our books...Parkinson, Parkin, Lawn and Rhodes it's your turn now...we are safe..but a season like 1984-85 or 1995-1996 is a way off as yet...admittedly it took 3 and 6 seasons respectively back them to achieve that goal playing in the same division.
