Francis Cummins was facing further injury woe last night as the Bulls crashed to a 46-6 home defeat the hands of arch-rivals Leeds.

Matty Blythe sustained a potentially serious knee injury and will undergo a scan, while James Donaldson (ankle), Adam Sidlow (back) and Lee Gaskell (ankle) also picked up knocks.

Head coach Cummins said: “Until Matty has the scan, we don’t know how serious it is, but it could be bad.

“James Donaldson did his ankle, Adam Sidlow took a bang in the back and stiffened up and Lee Gaskell also did his ankle.

“For a long time we only had one sub and in the end we didn’t have any.

“That was difficult but it’s still a frustrating time because we are miles better than we are showing.”

Cummins was already missing winger Jamie Foster and captain Matt Diskin through illness and a calf injury respectively last night.

Foster should return in Monday’s trip to Wigan but Diskin is expected to remain sidelined and Cummins will nervously await the prognosis on the quartet struck down against Leeds.

The Bradford boss was left frustrated for the second week running as his side were caught napping during an awful opening quarter.

The hosts barely escaped their own half during a first 15 minutes which saw the Rhinos score four tries to establish a 20-0 lead.

Cummins said: “I thought Leeds started very well but we only had the ball for two sets in the first 14 minutes.

“Against a team like Leeds, you can’t do that. We clawed our way into a situation where we got into the game but we’re not having enough pressure on the opposition’s line.

“When we do, we look like a team who haven’t been down there for a long time. We’re not building any pressure and our game sense is not good enough.

“Having said that, we lost a couple of players early who weren’t going to return – but there were silly offloads. You finally force a repeat set and then you make an error on play one.”

Cummins bemoaned his side’s luck as Ryan Hall scored a hat-trick of tries and added: “You do get the feeling that if something can go wrong, it’s going wrong at the moment, but we’ve got to be better.

“There are certain areas of our game where we work hard but ultimately we are letting each other down.

“People are chasing after they have made an error and then we are getting into situations where we are just panicking.

“If we were a basket case then I could accept that but we’re not – we’ve got some good players.

“We’re down on numbers but we’re not playing anywhere near our potential and that’s frustrating.”

One off games maybe, but this is every week now. The quality or organisation or both, are sadly lacking. Falling crowds, heavy defeats and a general air of resignation all contribute to a thoroughly miserable time for Bulls fans.

Do we achieve a different result with the team we have and Brian Noble in charge?

Or with a team something like below with Cummins and his assistants in charge?

Kearney
Foster
Henry
Blythe
George
Gaskell
Sammut
L'estrange
Carvell
Whitehead
Scruton
Ferguson
Bateman

Sidlow
Manokafoa
Diskin
Addy

I would have the stronger team right now but then I wouldn't say no to noble supporting FC either!

Sick of hearing about Noble he`s just been sacked at Salford because of his a old ideas that no longer work. Face facts here we have a squad of players who have had enough at the club the long spells of uncertainty the late pay cheques & low moral have all taken their toll.

Franny has done the best he is capable of he is still young and inexperienced to dig us out of this. We need a coach that is going to take this bunch of miss-fits to task. Franny has made some very poor decisions such as Chev Walker & Matt Diskin also his inability to change a game plan when things clearly are not working.

He is in a real mess its clear he can not motivate the squad its clear there are no decent players out there to get us out of this rut so things will only get worse.

At the end of the day what’s the point in sacking Franny ? we would only benefit form doing this by bringing in someone better to replace him but who wants to come to our club we are the embarrassment of super league who are still despite Marc Green coming in on a downward spiral which only has one outcome we will not be in super league next year.

Franny is a good bloke who has done his absolute best for the club with out doubt but his best may not be good enough to save us. The board want to take on the points deduction & will fight tooth a nail to get 2 points back when there are 2 points available every week & we have a squad not willing to fight & coach who is not capable of sorting the squad out.

Dire situation but on a plus note we still have a club ! on the terraces last night its very clear even the die hards are losing faith & with Wigan on Monday I can only see another drubbing on the cards.

Our defence is very very poor, individually and collectively. Our line speed is very poor. We cough the ball up more than any team I've ever seen, frequently on the first tackle. We never build any pressure. FC says it, they are better players than they are showing at the present. I think we need some new blood in the dressing room at coaching level, sad to say.

FC is a good man and has given his all, but it's a results based line of work, I didn't expect to beat leeds last night, but I hoped we'd give them a game and we didn't. The roots of this clubs trouble began in the catastrophic Hood era when he was too blind or clueless to sack a coach who was failing and the supporters lost faith and walked away. We must act sooner than later to address these weaknesses and FC identifying them week in week out is no good if he can't do anything about them.

The most sensible post for some time. Noble is old hat.

Ferguson didnt cover himself in glory, defensivley last night, looked shattered. Fakir looks good but not fit enough yet. The defence for the Watkins try was atrocious.

No point changing the coach just for the sake of it. I cant think of a coach that will get any improvement out of the current bunch of journeymen (sadly)

Will still turn up and give the club my backing. Having supported since the reformation in 1964, we have not always been the most successful team. All the supporters that jumped on the bandwagon with the successful team at the start of super league fell back off as quickly as they jumped on many years ago.

Onwards and upwards.

Fellow bulls fans might not like this but i think its time Franny goes. Its okay doing mediocre when we are in administration and nothing is expected, but to do it when we have near enough our full strength team out isnt good enough. Too many basic errors in every performance i have seen and i wouldn't expect them from the under 13s at my local team. Think we need to bring in A NRL coach with bags of experience who has some ties other in Australia otherwise we will be rock bottom with 2/3rds of the season gone and then it will be too late to change.

I would imagine that the decisions to beef up the coaching staff will be taken by our new owners very quickly, we have people who know the game from the business aspect and the playing side as well.

So it is largely up to the players at the moment, and the question will be, do I want to be a "Bulls" player of do I wish someone else to take the decision for me?
In my opinion , of course!

Obvious FC needs assistance of more experienced coach. Both B Noble and M Elliot out of work therefore available and could be brought in early as Consultant/assistant
. St Hilaire will bring end to FC reign if defence does not improve.
Like many fans did not expect to beat Leeds or indeed Wigan but would like to see more enthusiasm and fight to keep scores respectable.
Tired of excuse that we can't get ball, especially when we give it straight back when we do have it.
Injuries don't help with the small squad we have so its down to the management to find players and coaching assistance or we're going down!
