Sounds like a much improved performance and an excellent win. After a bit of uncalled for criticism from some supporters (bearing in mind he hadn't kicked a ball for us ), Jon Stead contributed to us gaining the points.

I do, however, echo tyker2's comments re PP's behaviour, following yet another spat with the opposition's non playing staff. How many times has this happened this season?

If you want to stop last weeks comments why bring up and invite more comment. Bates wasn't even brought on for defensive duties, so if anything it reinforces some of last weeks observations.

Great win away at one of the divisions top sides. Without Hanson and without Doyle and then without Drury.

Bit of praise for Parky would not go a miss.

Here's another way of looking at this season. Parky takes City from the abyss and fills the club with cash from 2 wembley visits. Lawn decides to take back £1 million at end of last season (He must have been happy). Don't get me wrong Lawn can do what he wants and he has invested in the club.

This season , sees us rake in over £1.3 million with add ons by selling our top scorer. This means reforming our front line. Davies has been out for a big part of the season as has Meredith.

City will stay up and whilst I do think some signings have been poor, if we finish some where near mid table , this is a good season given all of the above.

I also think Stead will do well for us. It's important now to plan for next season. Gray will be costing us way too much and when he goes , this should free up some resources. We need a box to box midfielder who can score.

For the record, Rhodes insisted Lawn's loan was repaid. Lawn did not take his £1M back of his own accord.

After City's terrific win today, the 'Pulse's' Ian Ormondroyd summed the team up best by describing them as the 'Dr Jeckle & Mr Hyde' team! and how write he is! It was great to hear ...
a) ..of a terrific defensive performance from the whole back four
b) ..of Rory McArdle on top of his game
c) ..of Jonny Mac making a world-class save to deny a certain goal
d) ..of Aaron McLean getting his shooting/scoring boots on
e) ..of a clean sheet against a top end of the table side
f) ..of three points which almost makes us safe ...BUT...

How can THAT team performance be squared with what happened on Tuesday?

And most importantly, how can we be assured that the Saturday 29 March-type performances will become the 'norm' and the Tuesday 25 March performances will be banished for ever...never to be seen again??!!

(but well done today anyway, lads!!)

What's great about this win is it shows we can win without Hanson. This is crucial if the club us to progress in the long term. We cannot play one system to suit one player. We need others who can either do his role or preferably change the system to give us more variety. Shows also now he has his match fitness that should McLean recieve a chance then he can score. You cannot blame him for Tuesday for playing with his back to goal when not one single player got to the byline or played a pass. On the whole plenty still to do as always but I think we will soon be safe and start planning for next season

If you'd said to me at Christmas we'd have two quality players like Aaron McLean and Jon Stead playing up front for us going into April I would have thought you were mad. I just wish I'd been at Orient to see us operating with two 'proper' footballers up top. It's done us proud upto this point but imho it's time to forget about the oh so predictable hit and hope, 'long diagonal' guff aimed at our resident Zebedee favoured by our seemingly one eyed manager. We need to get these two lads a busy, skilful, midfield player to play with in and around the oppo's box and play some football.

A great win. I don't know if we thought we were safe after the Gillingham game, which maybe explained the last two performances, but this was the hard working and committed display, which we have grown accustomed to over the past couple of seasons.

Thought it was a surprising revelation by Parky, that Mclean was criticised in the dressingroom midweek, as what is said should stay in there, but he has responded in the perfect way, with another instinctive finish.

Apart from laughing at Parky's descripton of "tunnelgate", the one thing that stood out was him saying that our best performances have come when we are positive.
