9:35pm

Lee Miller’s overhead kick sent City spinning to a costly defeat at chilly Carlisle tonight.
Miller reacted superbly to settle the game with a 14th-minute strike after the Bantams failed to clear away a corner from James Berrett.
Defeat stretched the winless run to 13 games since November. While City remain in 13th, the gap to the bottom four has been cut again to five points.
Adam Reach, City’s best player, forced a good save in the first half but Carlisle should have doubled their lead when David Amoo broke away at the start of the second.
James Hanson missed a good chance to level when he failed to make proper contact with Garry Thompson’s cross. But they could not find a way through Carlisle, who saw it out to end a run of six defeats in seven.

9:34pm

Home fans whistling for referee to whistle... he has!

9:33pm

Late shot from Mclean dribbles wide. Story of City's night

9:31pm

Four minutes of stoppage time to go

9:27pm

Four minutes plus stoppages to rescue this

9:23pm

Jones tries to burrow his way through a blue wall but there is no way through for the skipper

9:21pm

Pickford makes a mess of Reach cross but Carlisle manage to scramble it clear. City on top now

9:20pm

Andy Gray on for Hanson, who has had a poor game

9:16pm

Back-to-back corners from the Bantams but Carlisle hold firm.

9:15pm

Changes from both sides. Bennett for Thompson and Drennan for Redmond

9:13pm

Bennett loosening up ready to go on. Presumably it will be Thompson off, even though the winger has done quite well second half - should have had an assist

9:11pm

Mclean cuts in from the left to try his luck with the right foot but it's high and wide

9:08pm

Jones forces a save from Pickford with another 25-yarder

9:07pm

Carlisle make their first change of the night as Amoo makes way for Sam Byrne

9:06pm

Thompson clips inviting cross into the goal-mouth where it brushes off Hanson's head. Should have been 1-1

9:05pm

Graham Kavanagh wrapped in a huge gray scarf. It's hard to work out where his neckwear ends and silver hair begins...

9:03pm

Carlisle starting to get edgy. That's wishful thinking!!

9:02pm

City need to get Reach on the ball more and running at Chimbonda, who's on a booking

9:00pm

Decent cross from Thompson but just too high for Hanson by penalty spot.

8:56pm

Reach, City's best player on the night, creates space for Jones to have another pop. But his shot hits Mclean and deflects away

8:54pm

The crowd is 3,267 - and very cold. 472 from Bradford.... good effort that

8:53pm

Miller header saved by McLaughlin and City break to force a corner through Mclean

8:51pm

Chimbonda gets first booking of the night for trip on Reach.

8:48pm

Massive escape ..... for City. Jones corner cleared and when Darby misses the ball, Amoo suddenly finds himself in the clear.

With defenders trailing behind him, he races in on goal and rounds McLaughlin but Thompson forced him too wide.

8:47pm

Corner for City

8:46pm

Robson immediately charges down left and delivers dangerous low cross which McArdle does well to deal with at near post

8:46pm

City re-start proceedings as the snow returns

8:44pm

City make a change. Doyle on for Dolan

8:41pm

Looks like Nathan Doyle will be on for the second half.

8:31pm

Nothing comes of it and that's the break. Carlisle lead 1-0 and it's not very good

8:30pm

City have a final chance to loft a free-kick into the Carlisle penalty area..

8:29pm

One minute of added time

8:27pm

Potts lofts a deep cross into the City box and Redmond holds off Darby to loop a header on to the top of the net

8:23pm

Bates refuses to fall for Amoo's trickery and the winger's lay-back to Potts is sliced wide

8:20pm

City earn fourth corner but Dolan's kick claimed at second attempt by the keeper.

8:17pm

Reach pops up on right side with a driving run into the box before his angled shot is beaten away by Pickford. That's better

8:16pm

Carlisle playing with the swagger of a team a goal to the good. City in familiar territory having to chase the game again

8:15pm

Fans trying to lift City but the home side are on top right now

8:14pm

Robson swings in cross which beats everyone and needs a reaction save from McLaughlin.

8:13pm

McArdle is first to the setpiece to atone quickly but Carlisle enjoying a good spell

8:12pm

Another slice from McArdle; another corner for Carlisle

8:11pm

Hanson's head and Reach's big boot clear up the corner...

8:11pm

McArdle slices clearance behind under pressure from Amoo

8:09pm

Now it's a Carlisle corner as the snow suddenly stops .... McLaughlin claims with confidence

8:09pm

And here comes the snow....

8:08pm

Carlisle deal with it and the Jones cross back into the box. Mclean attempts to do a Miller with an overhead - and misses

8:08pm

Reach leads the response with a positive run to force a corner

8:07pm

Thundering woomp as Potts strikes a volley at the other end. It's not as impressive as the sound as the ball flies well over

8:06pm

Jones tries a snap volley from 25 yards but there's no repeat of his Crewe crackers here as it bounces through to Pickford.

8:02pm

Reach and then Jones down on floor. Captain gets up heavily

8:01pm

Good finish but City were their own worst enemies there. Hanson and Davies went for the same header

7:59pm

So once again City have conceded first....

7:59pm

City fail to clear their lines from Berrett's corner. Had couple of chances to clear it but didn't and MILLER punished them with a superb overhead from close range...

7:58pm

Carlisle in front with overhead kick from MILLER

7:57pm

Loud "aaagghhh" of frustration from the flat-cap in front the press box at a miscued Carlisle cross. Wins a corner though

7:52pm

Two men on Amoo but the winger does enough to win corner off Bates.

7:51pm

Reach drills low cross into box. Hanson's first touch is too heavy and his shot is blocked by defender

7:50pm

Pickford at full stretch to punch the ball away

7:49pm

Bit of a melee from Darby's long throw-in and City win first corner

7:47pm

Mclean has a loosely-termed shot from about 35 yards. It does not trouble anything

7:45pm

City fans in early good voice. Can't see them past the TV gantry though

7:45pm

Carlisle get us underway after City win the toss

7:42pm

Teams are on the pitch. Referee and Carlisle goalkeeper Jordan Pickford wearing matching black outfits...

7:40pm

7:18pm

7:15pm

Skipper Paul Thirlwell returns to Carlisle's ranks as they try to arrest a run of seven defeats in the last nine games.

CARLISLE: Pickford, Chimbonda, Meppen-Walter, O'Hanlon, Robson, Potts, Berrett, Thirlwell, Amoo, Miller, Redmond. Subs: Noble, Ekangamene, Symington, Byrne, Guy, Drennan, Fleming.

7:13pm

7:12pm

It's brass monkeys out there and not much warmer in the press box. It's meant to be enclosed but there's no glass at the front....!

7:00pm

7:00pm

Rory McArdle returns to City's defence after recovering from his cut eye.

The Northern Ireland international replaces Carl McHugh, who had a torrid afternoon against Crewe.

The other change from Saturday sees native Cumbrian Garry Thompson come in for Kyle Bennett, presumably to offer a bit more solidity on the right of midfield.

Nathan Doyle, back from his suspension, is on the bench. Raffaele De Vita misses out - he is still not 100 per cent over his thigh injury.

CITY: McLaughlin, Darby, McArdle, Davies, Bates, Thompson, Dolan, Jones, Reach, Mclean, Hanson. Subs: Gray, McBurnie, Doyle, Bennett, McHugh, Atkinson, Jameson.

6:45pm

6:45pm

Brings back memories of the JPT trip here in Stuart McCall's last season when Simon Ramsden lost his head and City lost 3-0. Haven't won here since 1985, although there haven't been too many visits since.

6:43pm

6:43pm

Rory McArdle is here with the squad. No team news just yet but can't imagine he's been brought up to Cumbria for the fun of it.

6:29pm

Good evening and welcome from a very cold Brunton Park. We've had sleet and snow flurries but it's dry for now - the forecast says another blast around 8pm.

Well parkinson you need to sort this mess out well and truly. Loan signings not given a chance to blend in. First Bennett and now Dolan replaced after 1.5 matches. Edging nearer the danger zone and other teams with games in hand. Please oh please sort the slump out as I cannot bear to think of football in the basement again so soon.

The great hope Davies cannot paper over strategic and tactical ineptitude. You have to play 4-5-1 in this league. See McLean draws another blank.

Fact. 1 win in 21. That's 1 win in virtually half a season. Relegation form. Can't see city winning another game any time soon. By the end of February it could be too late to do anything. Parkinson took us up and looks like he's taking us back. All you hear on the radio is city dominated after the break but lacked a cutting edge. Sorry but let's have city dominated from the off and took the lead. Common McClean show the fans what you've got.

He has been there done it and bet Hull cannot believe their luck they got rid.
We will go back down to that horrendous league if changes are not made fast.

Same old Same Old!!

Plays the totally ineffective Thompson away from home because he's more defence minded, takes him off chasing the game between 65-75 minutes and brings a like for like replacement on!

Replaces a midfielder for a midfielder while trailing the game, not just any midfielder but a defensive midfielder who has had all season to prove himself but hasn't! He's signs a box to box midfielder in his own words not mine and he hasn't made it off the bench yet!

Trailing with 10 mins to go he brings a striker on for a striker, why not go 3 up front what's to lose?

We have no left back in the club but have signed countless central defenders and wingers either permantly or on loan who don't even get a look in!

The guy is a one trick poney his first thoughts are not to lose and keep it tight as long as he can but seems incapable of changes the formation once we go behind, no plan B and I cannot see how we will get out of this as our current form equates to 28 points over a season!!

Once again we find ourselves in an unenviable position. Just 12 months after the greatest achievement by any 4th tier management team we have lost our way. This slump has been on the cards for many a month - indeed I think the way PP sets up the team always needs a superhuman effort from jones and Doyle. Our two wide midfielders have always been lightweight and the long ball to Hanson has been found out. Unfortunately James is not the best at attacking crosses (even if he ever gets any). PP's inability to get a Left Back and the demise in form of Meredith has been crucial in our continuing decline.
The much hyped signing of best a League One journeyman (he had a great Lg 2 season, followed by a good Lg1 - then er nothing) has been disastrous.
Unfortunately it is highly unlikely any manager can now change this.
The cost of sacking PP and Parkin would be prohibitive.
Our only hope is a new left back got on emergency loan - and use McLean as mobile forward (although judging by his substatitution at Wolves PP doesn't rate him) so I would play: McLaughlin; Darby, Davies, McArdle (or McHugh), AN other; Bennett, Doyle, Atkinson (or Dolan), Jones, Reach; McLean (or Gray or Hanson) - Not a great side, even maybe a poor one but one that might just get us a point a game. There would be little goal threat but heyho whats the alternative?
Maybe our cup and promotion run used every bit of luck for years to come - I feel for ML and JR - the optimists won the day only Shaun was right ...
Just think only two more winless games and statistically this will be the worst run in our club's (not so glorious) history. And indeed under PP we've had nearly three or is four of these such runs.
PP was a lucky manager - shame lady luck now has deserted him ... And us

Now just five points rom safety, City are beginning to look vulnerable and, whllst we must stick together and hope 'PP' can guide us though these tricky days, it would be foolish NOT to admit we have hit problems.

Probems:

a) Defence conceding first goal too often as in bad old days.

b) Stuggling to score-Aaron McLean hasn't broken his duck yet.

c) City are looking as if they are still missing Nahki -he was more important than we perhaps care to admit.

d) Lack of belief-in a rut of poor form-can't break out.

Well although there is a chink of light between City and the bottom four, it's getting ever smaller and one point from Crewe and Carlisle don't make it obvious a win is just around the corner. I'm guessing at best PP has 3 games to bag a win and in the absence of such, I think ML and JR will have a major scrum down.

Sorry guys but this is typical over reaction after a loss, everyone calling for Parky's head, but who would you get in that's better, would guarantee better results, I'm sure many would state they could, but a few games in they would blame it on Parky's signings and wash their hands of any responsibility, whereas Parky has backed his signings and has to make it work,he's had a wretched time with injuries, a striker who thought he was better than Suarez and too good for City, once he gets the new players to gel and the spirit back in the team now that the bad apple has gone we will see a turn around in fortunes, don't forget this season was always going to be about consolidation not promotion, some people here seem to think we should have walked the league this year on the back of the cup run and strong finish last season but the cup run was a bonus and the promotion was on the back of other teams slipping up, we over achieved and are now facing a reality check, hang in there with Parky, we won't go down and he will build a team to challenge next season.

Disappointing; it was a great opportunity to put some clear daylight between the bottom four, and we should be coming away with at least a point at places like Carlisle. It does concern me that we very rarely seem to nick these tight type of games.

We are obviously on a bad run, but have been unlucky at times and could have easily won a few games in that period. We can't feel sorry for ourselves though, and need to get some wins on the board, as we are better than this.

There are more than four teams worse than us in this division, and I think we will survive comfortably, but it is obviously a concern when we are on such a terrible run.

rubbish.
we had davies out but at least 5 centre backs who could cover if they are good enough.
if not why get them?
when wells was injured he stuck people like thommo up there instead of sub strikers.
he obviously dint rate them so why get or keep them?
i await the usual twaddle response!!
