Bradford City will try again with Dolan deal

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Bradford City will try again with Dolan deal Bradford City will try again with Dolan deal

City will look to sign Middlesbrough midfielder Matty Dolan when the emergency loan window opens next week.

They had hoped to beat last night’s transfer deadline to bring in the 20-year-old with talks taking place through the evening.

But despite claims on Boro’s official Twitter site that a loan had been done, they were unable to push a deal through before the 11pm cut-off point.

But it is understood that there is an agreement in place between the club’s chief executives to resurrect the move when the loan window is open again from Friday.

Dolan recently spent three months on loan at Colin Cooper’s Hartlepool, who were also keen on signing him.

Sorry but just don't see how Atkinson and Matty Dolan improve on Ricky Ravenhill and Jason Kennedy. In other words no change as our best option remains Nathan Doyle and Gary Jones.
If the rule of thumb is only bringing players in that improve the squad I just don't get these ins and outs at all to be honest. Especially given that if they do well they will be wanted at parent clubs so our squad doesn't improve at all in terms of building a League 1 squad that's going to challenge.

I agree. I'm a big fan of PP but I must admit I'm a bit perplexed at some of his recent signings and the rationale behind them. The players he's brought in are young fringe players from other clubs, who are not deemed fit by parent clubs to warrant a start. I thought if we were going to improve the squad with the Wells money, then surely it would be to improve the squad by bringing in established players who will join permanently and have time to gel with their new team mates in preparation for next season. I'm sure in most cases, well improve these players then simply send them back at the end of the season. It seems like we're treading water.

In addition, PP states were short in midfield and at left back. Surely he can see that if were to lose Hanson or McLean through injury for a period of time, then our only options are McBurnie or Clarkson up front! Clearly neither at this stage carry a big enough goal threat, and will probably be replaced by players playing out of place up front! I for one think we're crying out for another real goal scorer! Why we didn't go for Dagnall or Murphy in addition is beyond me! Let's see what happens next week!

Not good enough. What happens if anything happens to Doyle or Jones? Surely we had a few players in mind not just one. Don't think we have strengthened well at all like other clubs have.
Gonna be a hard second half of the season.

Jason Kennedy has failed to impress and has returned to Rochdale for regular football and perhaps to regain his form. Therefore cover is required and Dolan fits the bill, he impressed at Hartlepool. He made such an impact that Colin cooper tried to keep his serivces until the end of the season. Regarding Atkinson , he's out of contract at Huddersifled in he summer, so far they have failed to offer him a new one. If he plays well here and cements a regular spot, there's nothnig to stop us offering him a contract. He may well choose first team regular football here as opposed to reserve team football at Hudderrsfield. I believe these loan moves may be potentially beneficial to our squad.

Re the Wells money as yet nothing has been spent on actual fees only wages and of course players have moved out giving us a evening up apart from some cash in regard to the Goal Scoring forward who perhaps is on a larger wage .It may well be money is being put aside for a good signing or two at the seasons end but real good goal scorers have gone for round about £500,000 roughly one third of the wells fee so it does seem we may not wish to really spend I hope I an totally wrong but don't hold your breath

Dave Baldwin just announced on Pulse that Dolan will be coming in on an initial loan then signing permanently in the summer. Parkinson is already building for next season. It seems to me that Atkinson has been brought in on a try before you buy basis too as his contract is up in the summer as well. This season is about consolidation in a new division. Be patient. Can the thick idiots on here stop moaning and get behind the team and management?

I've noticed that this newspaper has stopped printing stories which allow Boss Hogg (I mean Mark Lawn) to bang on about money and harp on about how Bradford City fans are getting "A lot of bang for their buck" and then try to squeeze every penny he can out of us with scams like the Priority Away Travel Membership Scheme. I've also noticed that now we are losing, Bradford City is now being described as a "club" again and not a "business".

He only sings when we're winning.

And morons like you moan and whinge about everything the moment we're not.

When did the paper say they were no longer printing interviews with Mark Lawn?

Please supply examples of articles where City are refrerred to as a 'Club' in relation to times where we have lost and then again where we are described as a business having just won.

Otherewise I'll just assume you are launching a pointless, personal attack on Mark Lawn which is irrelevant to the article.

And I'll also assume you are talking crap.

If you'd like to have a look at a genuinely poorly run club perhaps you could cast your eyes towards Beeston to see a genuine shambles of a club, or look closer to home at the mess that is the Bradford Bulls. Then you'd REALLY have something worth moaning about.

Think all the loans (barring the Villa lad) will be with an eye to permanent signing or in Reachs case, to sign next year for year long loan.

Having a go because they weren't deemed good enough by the parent clubs is a bit daft. We're signing them from championship clubs, just because they aren't good enough for that doesn't mean they won't do well in L1! You buy players to suit the league, surely Thompson and Jones prove that from last year. We've jumped up a league, so you get rid and bring in better ( I hope).
