Guiseley and Farsley frustrated by weather

The stormy conditions put paid to two of the high profile non-league fixtures yesterday, with Guiseley and Farsley both failing to see any action.

Guiseley were due to host Gainsborough Trinity in the Conference North and the postponement cost the Lions as they dropped one place to tenth, while Trinity remained in 15th spot.

Mark Bower’s side did not lose ground on New Year’s Day’s opponents Harrogate Town though as they were beaten 1-0 at Vauxhall Motors, meaning the clubs are still separated by goal difference ahead of Wednesday’s derby clash.

A waterlogged pitch also prevented Farsley from travelling to promotion rivals Ramsbottom United in the Evo-Stik Division One North.

Farsley stay in third place, with their red rose rivals in seventh, 11 points behind but with three games in hand.

However, Neil Parsley’s men now trail second-placed Curzon Ashton by four points after they won at the weekend but fourth-placed Bamber Bridge were also frustrated by a postponement and fifth-placed Darlington 1883 were held to an away draw.
