All four local representatives in the Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division were winners on Saturday but not all of them improved their position in the table.

The big winners in terms of placing were Thackley as they reclaimed top spot following a 3-0 victory at mid-table Glasshoughton Welfare.

The Dennyboys made the most of Retford United drawing 1-1 at home to Tadcaster Albion to leapfrog both of their rivals.

It was Taddy who lost the leadership as Thackley swapped third place for the top slot after a win that looked a long way away following a goalless first half at Glasshoughton.

Chris Davey eventually broke the deadlock just before the hour-mark and once he had the Dennyboys cashed in. Davey netted his second in the 64th minute and just two minutes later Mike Garrod wrapped up the scoring.

The big winners in terms of achievement were Albion Sports, who won 4-0 at well-fancied Bridlington Town.

Albion boss Kulwinder Sandhu pulled off something of a coup when he signed Lee Elam, the former Guiseley, Southport and Park Avenue winger, the day before their trip. The club were further boosted by the return of keeper Aaron Brian from a broken finger.

Elam set up both of the first-half goals as Levi Maturine headed home one of his crosses and then Malachi Farquharson profited from a through-ball. Farquharson netted his second ten minutes from time and sub Jerome White added late on.

Albion remained in tenth place despite their fine win, while Brighouse Town climbed to seventh following their 3-2 win at fourth-placed Athersley Recreation.

The home side took the lead through Daniel Joynes but Danny Nadiole levelled just before the break.

Nadiole put Town in front before the hour but the home side were back on terms midway through the second half after Robert Cartright’s effort but Sam Hewitt bagged Town’s late winner.

Liversedge are below all of their neighbours but they banked three points thanks to a 2-1 win at home to struggling Pickering Town.

Scott Whittington opened the scoring in the second minute for the visitors but a second-half brace from Sedge’s Ben Grech-Brooksbank turned the game in the home side’s favour.
