Guiseley’s tough run of fixtures is unrelenting and they travel to high-flying Altrincham in the Skrill North tomorrow, with former City defender Matt Clarke expected to make his debut.

The Lions are still seeking their first point under new manager Mark Bower and they were knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend by local rivals Bradford Park Avenue.

Looking to kick-start his reign at Lee Sinnott’s side is a tough ask, as “Sinbad’s” Alty are third in the table, just two points off pacesetters Hednesford Town.

Guiseley are a lowly 17th following four straight defeats. The first of those, at home to Brackley Town – who are just one point above Altrincham in second – was Steve Kittrick’s final game in charge.

Bower said: “We need to put chances away if we are going to get out of this run but we must improve at the back as well.

“There has been no shortage of effort from the players but we have to be better in both final thirds of the pitch.”

Clarke is still awaiting his first appearance after picking up a calf injury but he is in contention tomorrow, while young striker Louie Swain, on loan from Valley Parade, should make his second start after his debut in the cup against Park Avenue.

Guiseley were due to hold a meet the manager evening next Tuesday but that event will be rescheduled because the first team will not be training at Nethermoor that day.
