Touch wood, I’ve never suffered a major injury. I’ve had ones that have kept me out for a month or so but that’s enough.

I can’t even imagine what Luke Oliver must have gone through being out for going on a year. It must be horrific.

You’ve got to be mentally strong because it’s a lonely place in that gym day after day when you see everybody going out training and talking about games while you’ve got to just battle on with the rehab.

It’s helped Luke that we’ve got such a good team spirit here. As low as he’s been at times, I think it helps when he’s been around the lads and we’ve tried to keep him going.

His attitude has been first class. Every time you see him, he’s coming out the gym sweating or doing something to make himself better.

He’s done everything right and he fully deserved getting his chance last weekend and putting in such a good performance. All the lads were over the moon for him because nobody deserved it more.

A lot of people forget what he did for this club before the injury. With all the hype of last season, it’s easy to brush under the carpet the big part he played up to then.

He mopped up and won six trophies at the player of the year awards before that and was massive in keeping us in the division. Then he started well in the promotion season.

He put in a fantastic performance against a good attacking team. People talk about the sending off but you still have to do your job and keep the ball out the net.

Clayton Donaldson is a dangerous striker but Olly kept him quiet and had a fantastic afternoon. I was really pleased for him.

Beating Brentford was another good result for us and we’ve got that momentum going at home. It’s the goal we’ve set to make Valley Parade a fortress so that teams won’t want to come and play here.

We’ve started well with three wins so far and hopefully we can keep it going against Colchester on Saturday.
