Silsden slumped to a surprise 3-0 defeat at Bacup & Rossendale Borough in the North West Counties Premier Division tonight.
The home side, formed from a merger between Bacup Borough and Rossendale United, were third from bottom after taking just two points from their opening five games.
They were good value for their victory and were 2-0 up after just 11 minutes, the first goal coming from a fifth-minute free-kick. Steve Thompson netted at the far post from Matt Bryan’s dead ball and Boic Nhwziyo soon added a second after an assist from the same player.
Bryan scored the third himself when his cross-cum-shot seven minutes into the second half sailed over Cobbydalers keeper Ed Hall.
Silsden’s best chance came later but Will Storrie’s chip was tipped over by the home keeper.
