The Bradford Sunday Alliance League started their new season with a programme of Premier Division and First Division matches.

In the top flight, Buttershaw White Star began in style with a fine 4-2 victory at Sandy Lane.

Adam Barlow opened the scoring with a penalty after Terry Ryan was brought down in the box, and Ryan added the second with a near-post shot.

Barlow grabbed a second early in the second half and Graeme Sides opened his account to make it 4-0 before Sandy scored two late consolation goals via Tom O'Hara and Jayden Richards.

Andy Hawker bagged a brace for Wyke Wanderers against Bolton Woods but it was to no avail as  Woods hit six in reply.

In the battle of the newcomers, Stanningley Albion had the edge over Peel Park 3-1, while George Hotel shared six goals and the points at Thornton United in their top-flight debut.

West Bowling kick off their season on Thursday with a home match against Dudley Hill Rangers.

In the First Division, Lane Ends managed a winning start on their debut in the second tier, defeating White Eagles in a seven-goal thriller.

The hosts ran into an early lead but the visitors levelled after regaining their composure via two penalty kicks, only for Lane Ends to snatch a late winner. Dale Howard had a brace for the home team and Dean Walters and James O'Brien also adding goals.

Napoleons Casino kicked off with a 6-1 victory over Ancient Forresters. Marcus Edwards was on the mark with a double, further goals coming from Karl Butler, James Gorman, Aidan Rhodes and Matt Dempsey, whose effort was an 18th birthday present.

Buttershaw Celtic won 3-2 at Thornbury Celtic thanks to a late Liam Keely strike.

Allerton were the first to attack against Oakenshaw and were in the lead after five minutes through Danny Pedder.

In the second half, Bobby Canning doubled the lead for the home team and then they went three goals clear with a rare goal from veteran Paddy Dunne, although the visitors pulled a goal back via a defensive mistake near the end.
