Runaway Bradford League second teams Division One leaders Morley were defeated for only the second time this season as they went down by 80 runs at Yeadon but they still remain on course to win the title for the first time.

Morley still have a 57-point lead with just four games to go and, barring a complete collapse in form, the silverware is heading for Scatcherd Lane.

Good bowling from Ryan Mooney (4-19), Nick Darfield (3-29) and Paul Machell (3-22) saw Yeadon dismiss Morley for 103 when they replied to their score of 183-9.

Sam Medley battled hard to make 59 for Morley but lacked support as Yeadon wrapped up a well-deserved victory which had been set up by solid batting from Andrew Pickering (40), George Barker (40no) and Kevin Gilks (31).

East Bierley moved into second place after a comfortable eight-wicket win over Bowling Old Lane. Skipper Dan Abbott (5-26) and John Glover (3-21) helped dismiss Old Lane for 88, then former Old Lane player Shahid Alishan struck an unbeaten 50 to see East Bierley home. The resut drops Old Lane into the bottom two.

Lightcliffe, who started the day in second place, suffered an 18-run defeat at home to Baildon. James Butterfield (63) and Jonny Baines (34) helped Baildon to 179-7 as Liam Collins took 3-20.

Lightcliffe, despite the efforts of Regan Broadbent (42) and Michael Brooke (35) Lightcliffe were dismissed for 161 with Salman Sayed taking 3-40.

Bradford & Bingley’s second-successive win, an eight-run success against Sovereign Health Care Priestley Shield finalists Hanging Heaton, has seen them climb out of the bottom two.

Bradford & Bingley made 222-8 with Ben Chrispin (60), Robert Dunn (43) and Jacob Roach (30) making valuable contributions despite the efforts of Michael Horner (5-60) and Wasim Nazir (3-67).

Hanging Heaton made a bold bid to go for the runs with Nazir (82) and David Lawrence (31) leading the way. Waj Ali (3-39) and Richard Slater (3-61) proved to be Bradford & Bingley’s most effective bowlers.

Little goes right for Hartshead Moor. Tom Raven took 6-27 to dismiss defending champions Farsley for 131, but the bottom team perished for just 74 in reply as Ryan Lumb took 3-23.

Woodlands defeated Keighley by 38 runs. Young bowlers Christian Jackson (4-29), Rahat Shah (3-24) and Elliot Richardson (3-27) bowled out Keighley for 117 when they replied to Woodlands’ 155. Jackson, who enjoyed a fine match, top scored with 70 in the face of good bowling from Jason Perry (4-61) and Alex Towler (3-19). Ashley Robinson was Keighley’s top scorer with 35.

Division Two Leaders Pudsey Congs made light work of defeating struggling Manningham Mills. They bowled them out for 49 in 18 overs and knocked off the runs in just 7.4 overs.

Mills had no answer to Chris Doey (6-14) and Mushy Shah (3-6), but despite their emphatic win, Congs saw their lead cut to five points Second-placed Undercliffe won a high-scoring game with Great Horton by 41 runs. Veteran Andy Wilsdon led the runs spree with a magnificent 126 in which he brought up his century off just 74 balls.

Darren Drake (53), Arslan Mahmood(36) and Phil Drake (32) added to the suffering of the Win dhill bowlers as the runs flowed. Sohail Akram’s 3-19 was the pick of the bowling figures.

Great Horton made 277-6 in reply thanks to Majid Khan (58no), Uwais Mahmood (47) and Hanzah Rana (37), New Farnley warmed up for the Sovereign Health Care Priestley Shield final with a nine-wicket win over Gomersal.

Openers Reece Thompson (63) and Alex Baldwin (43no) put on 97 for the first wicket to help their side cruise past Gomersal’s 111. Tony Blain top scored with 32 as Sukhdip Mann took 5-12.

Pudsey St Lawrence remain handily placed in case of any slip ups by the top three after beating Spen Victoria by 38 runs.

Half centuries by Archie Scott (52) and Matthew Beckett (50) helped St Lawrence to 169 as Danny Simpson returned season’s-best figures of 6-34. Spen were all out for 131 in reply with Sam Sharp making 40.

Ayaz Younis (6-48) and Jamie Bonner (3-22) bowled Bankfoot to a 42-run win over Cleckheaton, Joe Bowman made a defiant 61 as Cleckheaton were dismissed for 146 in reply to Bankfoot’s 188-7 in which Steve Marsden made 35.

James Scott hit an impressive 115not out as Saltaire made 310-3 in their 125-run win over Brighouse.

Scott struck one six and 15 fours and he was joined in an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 199 by Marcus Robinson who finished 98no. Sami Ur Rehman (45) also chipped in with valuable runs. Brighouse were all out for 185 in reply as Govinder Bargota (4-20) and Abas Ahmed (4-51) struck.

Bottom team Idle were skittled out for 88 as they went down by six wickets to Windhill. Tahir Mahmood (5-21) and Danny Maguire (4-47) ripped through the Idle batting with only Andrew Massheder (32) standing firm.
